I am assuming Roundabout will want to add some songs to their BYE BYE BIRDIE revival. Like they did with PAJAMA GAME.
These are the songs they will most likely consider
Bye Bye Birdie (probably as an opening, and/or with Ursula and the girls in the malt shop)
Let's Settle Down - Rosie (in place of the ONE BOY Reprise)
What Did I Ever See In Her? - Albert
A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore - Mae
A Giant Step- Albert
I hope the title song, Mae's song, and A Giant Step get added. What do you think?

Um...how about none?

I wouldn't mind the title song and Mae's song. I could live without the rest.
I agree. Though I enjoy "A Giant Step".

I would like to see Mae's song only if they have a good performer. The song has to be balanced to work properly. I'm afraid that some might push the absurdity of the song too far. Estelle Getty could have found the balance if she were still alive.
Unfortunately Encores didn't add it when they produced it and they had Doris Roberts playing Mae and she walked that fine line all during "Everybody Loves Raymond".
I wonder if Roundabout would approach Roberts to play Mae in a fully staged revival?

Depending on how Albert is cast, Doris may actually be too old - she's pushing 80.
Of course, in the movie, Maureen Stapleton was roughly the same age as Dick Van Dyke!
I would LOVE for them to add the Title Song. it would do well at the beginning or intermission, but it's so lovely
And I know its very unlikely, but I hope they don't cut any numbers like the movies, but they probably won't
Empty Chairs at Empty Tables.
Bwahahahaha! Love that.
Here's the problem: You know who I immediately think of for Mae right now?
Jackie Hoffman
Is she too young? You know she would tear it UP!

If Jackie Hoffman can play Kerry Butler's sister, she can do anything.

Would it be too much to ask them to add "Rosie's Turn"? It would give Rose's character so much more dimension.

I'd like to see them interpolate "Filth" from "Bring Back Birdie" in a flash forward sequence at the end.
The title song is very catchy. And "A Giant Step" is a great number, providing that the actor playing Albert can dance well. I saw the Tommy Tune tour of BIRDIE in Philadelphia in the early 1990's--the song was written for Tune. Marilyn Cooper played Mae and gave an hilarious performance. Is she too old to play Mae now?
If they DO add the title song, I assume they'll have Kim sing "Bird-HEE" like Ann-Margret.
If they do add the title song, I am sure it will be sung as an opener by all the teen girls. Or they will put in the malt shop with Ursula and a couple other girls, like the movie remake did. I doubt Kim will sing it.
Bye Bye Birdie
A Mother Doesn't Matter Any More
A Giant Step is superfluous and Let's Settle Down sounds way too contemporary compared to the rest of the score. It reminds me of soundtrack music to a ride at EPCOT.
I hope they add Bye Bye Birdie for the opening, but I could live without everything else.

Mae deserves her own song.
"Mae deserves her own song."
She does indeed! I never understood why she didn't have one, but I do love her monologue where she stickers her head in the oven lol its one of my favorites

"Mae deserves her own song."
Especially if they get a name to play the role.
(Too bad this song wasn't around when Irene Ryan was alive. She had that nice mixture of innocence and aggressiveness needed for the song).

They should absolutely stick to the original book and score as it was written. No new songs from the movie, television or Tommy Tune version should be "added" at all. There might be one exception and that is a song that was in the original show but was dropped out of town. It's quite beautiful and you can hear some of it on the Charles Strouse Happy 80th Birthday website. Don't wreck this show with the sub par music they added in the movie and TV version, not to mention the third rate Tommy Tune tour of this show back in the 1990's.

The only song I think they should add is the title song.
sub par music?!! the additional songs were written by the original songwriters of the show: charles strouse and lee adams.
