Back in late 98 - early 99, I saw Downtown Cabaret Theatre's Kopit/Yeston PHANTOM featuring a friend and Kelli O'Hara as Christine. The depth in her acting and the control in her astonishing voice makes me long to see her as Galinda (provided she's got comic timing...I've never seen her in a comedy).
"I'm so looking forward to a time when all the Reagan Democrats are dead."
ruthie henshall is too old, doesnt have a legit soprano, and doesnt have the range for the role. if anything shed be a better elphie, but shes too old for that too.
how about rosie o'donnell- i cant understand why no one has mentioned her already! LOL
Again, you're all mentioning people that are ancient! Can we do the age cut off at at LEAST 35? Can we cap it there, since clearly, no one wants to see someone 25, actually play someone in their 20's.
I think that Jessica Simpson is a very interesting possibility, provided she works on her soprano and prepares for the role. It would definitely boost ticket sales up, and Wicked would be sold out for a year, if not more.
The best Broadway candidate mentioned, so far, is Amy Spanger. She's perfect for the role, I think. Updated On: 5/14/04 at 07:09 PM
Jane Krakowski had one of the smallest vocal ranges I've ever heard, so she definitly could not do it. Jessica Simpson, as far as I can tell, has no legit soprano to speak of. She can do the hoot-y pop high notes, but they have no weight to them. And, while I love The Newlyweds, I really don't think Jessica has the brain-power to work on the stage night after night dealing with the different situations that could be thrown at her. And frankly, she's awkward looking when she sings. She contorts her face and enunciates oddly. Wow, I guess the same type of thing can be said about Idina, but somehow I love it on her! Just my opinion.
tell me the smiley was to suggest a joke here, right? ugh, vodka makes me see everything literally...

Whats with the age issue? Ever since Broadway began, people who read younger under the lights and from a distance have been playing MUCH younger, due to their life experience making it so much easier to convey the emotional ranges of their characters....so lets not rule out people based upon their ages.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!"
Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!
I don't think Amy Spanger is a great choice...I haven't heard much of a soprano range from her. I saw her in Urinetown and she belted the entire score. I wish Madeline Kahn were still around. I know she would have been too old, but man could she have kicked Kristin' ass.
I can see Maggie Benjamin doing a great job with it. She can really transform into a character, and she's very animated, and very pretty. I'm not sure her voice would fit the role, but I can definitely see her personality and acting style fit. Her comedic timing is amazing.
