Has anyone heard anything concrete?
Nothing announced as yet. Probably won't know until late August/early September.
They're in the procss of casting their replacements now.
As the previous poster said, don't expect an announcement until the month or so before they leave.
I know of one person they've approached for Elphaba who turned it down last week, so they are going afer people slowly but surely.
Stephanie? One can only hope...
I've been hoping that an actress/singer named Jennifer McGill would audition and be cast as Elphaba one of these days. She was a part of the 1990's Mickey Mouse Club, is in her mid/late 20's now and has a powerhouse voice that would rock the Gershwin Theatre. I'm also pretty sure that I read somewhere that this is a part that she'd be very interested in playing.
LOL on Jennifer McGill! I saw clips of her singing on some cruise ship on E! she was pretty amazing belting Defying Gravity. Go MMC!

Those MMC-ers sure have good luck in the music and acting industries...I totally remember her!
What happened to the rumors of Gina Glocksen wanting to play Elphaba? Were they too concerned about the cost to reinforce the lift?
Keep hanging on, Jennifer, for dear life!
She'd be GREAT!

OK, so how do they go about casting replacements? Do they tap the understudies first? Go to the National Tour casts? Hold auditions in NYC? I auditioned for Hairspray with Telsey & Co. last month but didn't get the part, although they did tell me I was very good. I followed up my audition by thanking them for the opportunity and also asking to be considered for future shows/roles, including Wicked.
I'm not the skinniest girl on the block, but I was definitely NOT hefty enough to be Tracy Turnblad. I'm 5'0" and curvy, but certainly not fat.
Anyway, would they invite a non-union, Jersey girl to audition, I mean like, is there ANY chance in hell of that happening??? Ha ha! Wishful thinking, right???

Casting of replacements is very open. I think they first go with their resources, discuss where the show is economically, and see which kind of performer they should get (big star, current understudy, performer from tour). I think there are many different factors that come into play.
somethingwicked, I wonder if we heard about the same person? Only reason I question is because I heard the person accepted the offer...hmm. I'll PM you about it.
Anyhoo, Jennifer McGill was always my favorite female on The Mickey Mouse Club, and I would LOVE to see her on Broadway. That bit of her doing Defying Gravity that aired on the MMC E! True Hollywood Story was great - I'd love to hear her sing the whole score.
^ I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about. Yes, she's replacing Murney. I got the call that the offer went through this morning. They approached a back-up who said no, but PM me and we'll discuss the details.
Drew Sarich is to play both roles at the same time.
fisher, you don't accept PM's.
I'm still hoping for Raven Symone.
Really? That's so strange, I've been able to get PMs before...let me poke around, see what the problem is? Hmm.
Okay, I don't know how that got set to "don't allow private messages." But I fixed it now, so send away.
Lori, PM me. Are you thinking who I am?

EDIT...I know nothing!
Where'd ya hear that, WickedLover?
popular_elphie its called replying to PMs
new concept
look it up on wikipedia
I heard what wickedlover said too.
And hey, it's not a stretch to imagine what she will look like in green.
Wow, B3TA07, maybe I was a little bit busy? The only PM I've replied to in the past few hours would be the one sent to me by fishergirl819, and we're actually talking about seeing a movie, if you'd like to know.
Ask someone else, B3TA07. That's not the way to get it out of someone.
