At last more confirmation that it is happening:

It'll have to be a triple LP for sure. I do wish the poster work was a little bit more dynamic. And I hope the packaging has many more production photos than the CD.

I might buy my very first record player just to be able to play this. (Can ya tell I'm a millennial?)

I'm definitely excited and will be purchasing it once it's released. I just picked up the new 2015 vinyl release of the GREASE soundtrack - I felt like I was 9 years old all over again!
My original copy is now housed in an LP Cover picture frame.

I'm just glad the album is available on Spotify because this is the one I want to actually buy. The waiting is KILLING ME!

I'm a millenial too but I've had a record player for years... guess I have an old soul? I have one that is a radio/CD player/ record player combo... love it! I've been lucky enough to find several Broadway cast albums at thrift stores and flea markets for 25 cents to a dollar-- so I definitely recommend the investment :)

I have a cassette/turntable/ CD combo that burns cassettes and l.p.'s to CD's. I have transferred a ton of l.p.'s and cassettes to CD's.

I'm shocked that it's finally being kind of confirmed!

If I were you I would listen to it on YouTube.

At this point, I have no record player, no tape player and no CD player so I can't imagine why I would be excited about this.

I don't get the whole vinyl thing either....sound quality is not as good as a cd. To each his own.
Cinders....why did you post the music? Just curious.

I feel the sound quality of vinyl would work great with the album. I'm gonna buy my first record player too!

Serious audiophiles would beg to differ with that assumption dramamam611.

The main downside for vinyl sound quality would be the inherent background static, although if you're listening on a high quality player with decent speakers rather than headphones or poor output it sounds pretty damn rich. I think it sounds better when run through an old receiver with a "PHONO" jack (if you have a turntable where you can set it for this).
I personally enjoy vinyl especially for the large format packaging. CD booklets are SO TINY! That's why I wish the artwork was a little more interesting.
P.S. I am also aware of the YouTube streaming of the CR but I personally find YouTube to be a bit clunky for listening on repeat and skipping through songs and such.

Vinyl, which faded with the arrival of compact discs in the 1980s, is having an unexpected renaissance. Last year more than 13 million LPs were sold in the United States, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, the highest count in 25 years, making it one of the record business’s few growth areas
The vinyl boom has come as streaming has taken off as a listening format and both CDs and downloads have declined. The reasons cited are usually a fuller, warmer sound from vinyl’s analog grooves and the tactile power of a well-made record at a time when music has become ephemeral.

I wish more shows did this. The last I can think of is Drowsy Chaperone, which was sort of a novelty item.

Well, very interesting. I guess I believed what I'd been told.

Ah, I thought maybe you weren't aware, I had a friend of mine who complained about listening to it on spotify and they didn't know about the youtube (why they haven't purchased the recording is beyond me). Plus when I listen to most recordings (and this one in specific) I usually just listen to the whole thing in a row, I don't like skipping tracks. Unless I only have a little time, then I'll skip around some.

That's actually not true at all. Beautiful did one, American Idiot did one, If/Then did one, etc....

I don't get it either. I am 43, so I grew up around vinyl. When CDs came out, it pretty much made records obsolete. Now digital has pretty much eliminated CDs.
There is is a reason for this which is sound quality. I don't get why you would listen to Hamilton on vinyl when it will be so much clearer on your iPhone.

It will be easier and more portable, Dave13, but it will in no way be clearer. See Carlos' link. Vinyl is vastly superior in sound quality than cd or digital.

It's all about your playback. Shifty system yields shifty sound quality no matter what medium.
Digital downloads as sold by iTunes etc. aren't formulated with very good fidelity because any decent sound would make the files too large to be manageable. Which is why I never buy digital.
