Posted: 2/6/09 at 12:16amNo, the only thing I've heard from audience members is that there friends are telling everyone to jump up out of their seats and scream "FindingNamo is a jerk", that's all I've heard.

Just because you say it doesn't make it true. For any circumstance.

Just saw the matinee of this show today and as some of you have, fell deeply in love with it. Malcom Gets and Will Chase were both at the top of their game and were masters at acting a song. Their transitions from scene to song were seamless.
I thought the score was absolutely beautiful and I really hope that there is a recording made of it. I also thought the book was very well structured although it did drag a tiny bit at points.
Overall loved the show and am so glad that this is on Broadway. See it!
P.S. The rush policy is amazing. Got row H orchestra, dead center for $20!

Posted: 2/7/09 at 9:47pmI had the quaint pleasure of seeing this show on friday evening. It's tough to say something definitive about it. The music, upon this my first hearing, came across as effective but generic. Yet, I still want to hear it again and I will see it again. By the end of 'mrs. Remington' I was totally drawn into this gem of a show. I hope it receives attention, because it is a sweet and beautiful show that is a perefect antidote to the extravaganzas that are playing everywhere, not that the extravaganzas aren't good in their own right. Its just tjat this show is a refreshing change, and while its no masterpiece, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Gets and Chase delivered top notch performances and I wish this show the very best success. Please excuse any spelling errors as I am writing this from my phone.

Good to hear that you're going to see it again, WAT. Enjoy.
This show provides so much food for thought, it's crazy. I'm sure that a second (3rd, 4th...) viewing is necessary to take in all the nuances. If only I weren't at the other side of the ocean... :)

Posted: 2/9/09 at 12:48pmForgive me, WithoutaTrace, and others who have said that you are going to see this multiple times, but what world are you living in where you can afford to see the same show once a week? I thought we were living through one of the greatest financial downturns in the history of this country, but maybe I imagined it. I want to come live in your village, where apparently money is no object and even the dullest little Broadway musical may be viewed a zillion times.

Good to know. I had visions of you guys spending your entire paychecks on theatre tickets and eating breadcrumbs and scraps to survive.

Hey, what's wrong with that?

For many of us theatre sustains us better than food :)
For me it helps that I am a member of the Theatre critics alliance so I get my tickets free.

Thank you. Not all that many changes.
One number I remember fondly was when Alvin was taking over his father's bookstore and was planning to keep it the same, except he'd make this change and that change, and soon he had plans to redo the entire store only to realize that in doing so it would rob it of all the character his father brought to it and in the end deciding to keep it the way it was. It was a
great song, but because it completed a full circle it really didn't advance the show.

Interesting that Independence Day was not in the Toronto production. It's one of my favorite Alvin songs (he sings about leaving town to visit Thomas in the city).
By the way, the reprises that you listed are also in the Broadway production (not sure whether they're identical, but they're there). They're just not mentioned in the Playbill.

Didn't want to create a new thread, so I'm just posting it here... Will Chase and Malcolm Gets performed 'Angels In The Snow' on Good Day New York this morning.

Now clearly, I cannot comment on the show as I have not seen it yet, but I have heard a few musical clips and whatnot, and now this performance on Good Day.
When Malcolm Gets's character said, "Huh...I like this" my immediate reaction was, "Huh...I don't!"
I do wish the show well though, and will withhold any further judgment until I see it.
