Posted: 8/2/07 at 4:47pmAs we all know, Christine Ebersole is starring in APPLAUSE at Encores in February 2008. Who would you want to play opposite her as Eve Harrington? I think Laura Benanti would be great...could totally picture her singing "The Best Night of My Life" and belting out the end of "One Halloween." Also, wouldn't it be cute if Erin Davie were cast? What are your thoughts?

I know she'll be all tied up with Drowsey, but I actually think that Mara Davi chick would make for an interesting Eve.

I think Erin Davie is a great choice, she's the right age for the role (yes, Karen Ziemba is way too old, she's old enough for Margo Channing) and would be a knocker in the role. Her "One Halloween" would be fierce and heart-breaking.
Actually, Leigh Ann Larkin would be fantastic as well.
Other City Center actresses that could work: Annie Hathaway, Sara Gettelfinger, Anika Noni Rose, and Jenny Power.

Christine as Margo in APPLAUSE? Ugh. Her Margo will be as flat as her Mame Dennis was in Papermill's MAME several years ago.
I'd love to see La LuPone as Margo. Now THAT would be something.

First of all, are you all just naming random female musical stars, or are you actaully trying to think of who could PLAY the character?? Do you know the character????

Posted: 8/4/07 at 12:24amI like the idea of Kelli O'Hara. Based on what I've seen of her in Piazza (where she was sweet) and Pajama Game (where she was a bit more brittle), I think she could handle the duplicitous nature of the character.
