Has anyone heard who will be playing the leads in City Center Encores' production of the 1965 Richard Rodgers and Stephen Sondheim musical, "Do I Hear A Waltz?"

It doesn't look like it's been announced yet. Full casting for 1776 was announced in late February, a month before its run, and it looks like casting for Cabin in the Sky was announced about two months before its run. That would suggest casting for Do I Hear a Waltz? will be announced between now and early to mid-April, since its run is in mid-May.

Who do you want? It's kind of a star vehicle, but it never seems to be played by stars.
Not that I'm saying she should necessarily be cast in this (because I think she's a better singer than she is an actress), but Erin Mackey delivered a beautiful rendition of the title song in Sondheim on Sondheim.
Donna Murphy? Victoria Clark? Both A list theater stars are right enough. Too bad Jan Maxwell has retired. But outside the box?
Emily Skinner has done it regionally, she'd be a great choice.
Emily Skinner was fantastic in the role in San Francisco last year; just ideally cast.
I, too, was thinking Emily Skinner.
I'd love to see Skinner do it though Murphy would be my top choice. I doubt that she'll be taking on any new roles after her recent loss. Clark is the one that seemed the most obvious choice when it was announced and I imagine that's whom we'll get, she's exquisite. But I'd be happy to see a surprise casting like Skinner show up as well.
I would say Mickey Rooney but I just learned that he died two years ago. RIP

In what way would he have been appropriate to play a middle-aged Italian man
Skinner is a great idea. I'd also love to see Kim Crosby.
Paolo Szot seems an obvious but delightful choice for Renato. Anthony Crivello?
All good choices except Mickey Rooney. If he were still alive, he could play a grown up Mauro

I agree that Victoria Clark and Paolo Szot would be perfect. I’d also think Nathan Gunn might be interesting as well as Jason Daniely who’s is probably too young but could sing the sh-t out of that score.

emily was absolutely wonderful in the role in sf- i went back to see it again with her....
Paulo Szot would be also dream casting.....
Guess everyone was wrong on this one.
Would love to hear Errico sing this score!
Encores has once more cast a soprano in a belter role - after Ebersole in Applause, O'Hara in Bells Are Ringing, and Keenan-Bolger in Merrily, I'm beginning to wonder if anyone there knows anything about the human voice... But then, perhaps most audience members don't care about how or where the score sits in the star's voice as long as they like the performer.
