Either...Chenowith, Peters again (she just seems to know how to work Radio City), O'Donnell (when shes on - shes ON!), or Hugh...he is a good host!

Just thought of this. I know it would be a pain for the tony people, but, would'nt be amazing if the let the fans write essays saying what the Tonys mean to them and the would choose fans, via the essays, to present the awards!?! My god, I would write the essay of my life!!!

I'd love Bernadette because she represents everything that is musical theatre.
BSoBW2: I punched Sondheim in the face after I saw Wicked and said, "Why couldn't you write like that!?"

why does there have to be a host? having someone come out and crack jokes or sing and dance only adds to the length of an otherwise overly long show. i say just have interesting presenters and get a talented script writer to give them good words to say.

I agree with that too! They kinda did that this year. If they had no host could they do more numbers from actual shows?

Chenofan thats such an awesome idea, you should write the theater wing. I would write like 50 pgs or more. But i mean if i went there id be so starstruck the whole time i'd be like "your sutton foster" or "your b-e-r-n-a-d-e-t-t-e p-e-t-t-e-r-s!" and i can't even say what id do if i saw sondheim!

Love the idea of Bernadette - she's a great comedienne as well as a fantastic singer/performer.

I dunno about fans hosting the Tony. Imagine the possibilities:
(1) Next, uhm, presenter, uhm, will, uhm, be, uhm, uhm . . .
(2) (Host stares blankly at the camera)
(3) Oh my gosh, it's Idina!! I love you at Wicked. I can't wait for Rent the Movie.
Then again, it'll be a riot to watch.

My vote goes to Bernadette Peters. She, as previously said, knows how to work an audience and she is glamorous, well-known and has star written all over her! People that aren't even interested in Broadway know and love her!
Happy...Everything!

I enjoy Bernadette Peters and Kristin Chenoweth....when they perform (sing/act) or do interviews. But hosting? Bernadette, the year she hosted, the only reason I enjoyed it was because A. she and Gregory had a great chemistry, B. because they did that fun little New York tribute song, and C. because when her diamond bracelet fell off she was really funny. Other than that, it was nothing to brag about. Didn't the Tony's have their lowest ratings ever that year?
I actually really liked the 1999 Tonys when there was no real host. It was just Tom Wopat and Bernadette Peters doing an opening number, then introducing the presenters.
I think Billy Crystal would be the best choice for next year.
Oooo Or Steve Martin and Martin Short as co-hosts!

I think Billy Crystal would be perfect
otherwise Get Rosie back she was wonderful
please no more hugh
and if cheno hosts I'm sorry but I will not be watching. She is great in certain shows but I think she would be a terrible host.

Definitely Billy or Rosie or a group of rotaing hosts who would each host a different portion of the show such as Billy, then Rosie, then Marc Kudisch, Cheyenne Jackson,Chita, Liza, etc. You get the idea
