By far, the worst musical that I have seen in quite some time !
Just got home.... 3 Hrs of my life that I will never get back !
Can someone please explain to me how a show that is almost 3 hours long can have absolutely no coherent storyline??!
Can someone PLEASE tell Chad Kimball to drop the accent !!?? Why does the last word of every sentence have to be 10 seconds long?! He was just about impossible to listen to !
Can someone please get the extemely talented Montego Glover (her "Colored Woman" is the ONLY reason to even consider seeing this show) a decent plot !!?
The book is embarrassing... (*** SPOILER ******)-
I STILL cant figure out why Felicia fell for Huey !!!
The sets? Were there any?
The choreography (along with Ms. Glover) are the only positives aspects of the show.
Dont want to get into the crowd reaction--- I am sure the performance was heavily "papered"-- that being said, most of the people around me seemed as bored as I was.
An absolute mess !!

I guess its safe to assume that Merphis will be offered alot in the free ticket mix at the Flea Market?

Were you up in the boondocks with me from TDF?
What time did the show end? I couldn't take it anymore at 9:25 when the intermission finally fell.

To be fair, someone should probably tell the director to have Chad drop the accent. It's not Chad's choice.
Is it my imagination or did he put on a lot of weight? Was that to suit the character in this show?
Will this close within a week of opening?
Bets?
I was in Row E of the Balc, Yankee--- You just reminded me--- for anyone thinking of puchasing tix thru TDF---
The $41.50 Balc seats start are Row G---
My seat (thru TDF) was off to the side-- reg $66-
Not really a bargain (and I LOVE TDF, but seems like all of the TDF seats for "Memphis" have been in the Balcony)

I was in Row E of the balcony too. E 14. The seat which is entirely obscured by a pole.
The house manager offered me the opportunity to try and get a refund from TDF (which, given their track record, wouldn't happen), and eventually moved me to row H of the balcony.
In retrospect, I should have tried for the refund.

Basically, what I was saying--- I cant see how anyone would choose that horrible accent-- they need to tell him to drop it from a 10+ to a 1-2. It was very distracting !!! By the time Huey had to read the commerical spot, I was ready to slit my wrists.
I saw ya, Yankee ! I was the one that said "nice view of a pole" when you saw your seat--- at least you had the sense to leave !!! I suffered thru Act II, which was actually worse than Act I !!!

I guess I'll student rush it. If I have to sit through, I'd rather not have a horrible seat.
I rushed it this evening and was in the balcony as well. The balcony really isn't that bad unless you're behind a pole. It's just very high up and very cramped.
Unless Student Rush is FREE, I would rather sit and watch the raindrops !! I can usually take some good out of ANY show... this one is a stretch.
do they have student rush?
Student rush is 26.50 for JUST previews, it seems.
