I'm not ozone (as you may have guessed from the proper spelling and punctuation

), but Taylor Dayne was a relatively popular singer in the late 80s/early 90s. I believe she played the role of Amneris in Aida at some point during its run.

Diana isn't a belter?? Are we talking about the same person? Again, I can understand doubting whether she can act (although she appears to have that ability) but doubting her ability to sing the part of Penny Pingleton isn't even on my mind. I also don't think Brooklyn will be particularly challenging given the songs I've heard. She was probably more challenged by singing pure soprano in West Side Story.

She seems like a great girl who has genuine ambitions to become successful in musical theatre. I just think it's sad that being on AI is considered such a strike against her, especially when she was only 16 years old at the time. If she had the identical background, minus AI, I wonder what the reaction would be?

How exactly does she not fit Penny? I mean isn't Penny basically an akaward girl role. Kerry Bulter is very pretty and she was great in the role. What's not right about Diana?

I defiantely see him as Mark in RENT also. I dunno how his acting is, but his voice is GREAT for Chris in Miss Saigon. Maybe Fabrizzio(sp?) from The Light in the Piazza, or maybe Link in Hairspray. I dunno. I just love Clay

Talent or lack thereof, if there's a name that people recognize for whatever reason, for a good number of people, it's the ONLY reason they will see a show. I work with a certain ticket selling outfit, and people will call and say "are there any shows with STARS in them?" Doesnt' matter what the show is about, whether it's a play of musical. No difference. If it's someone they or their kids will recognize, they'll put down money to see it.

I mean hello, Melanie Griffith hadn't been in anythine notable in close to a decade, but look how well she did!

Ozone, in regards to your first post on the thread, I think you've spoken too quickly. As a star, just because you're doing a show on Broadway doesn't mean your career has gone to crap. I'm pretty sure there are dozens upon dozens of scripts and movies for Julia Roberts to be in, not to mention the two she has already been working on.

I'm pretty sure her career as an actress is just fine. So lay off the "Broadway Revitalizes your career as a fading star" theroy

One thing you seem to forget..Broadway is VERY demanding and hardly pays the bills if you live in NYC, you have to have a DESIRE or dream to do it! Also, guess what, you really need to be able to ACT and DANCE and be trained in these areas, a pretty face and voice does not cut it in most cases, ahemmmm, melanie griffith, Doing a show 8 or 9 times a week for months or years even can take a toll on the body and why if one is making hundreds of thousands being a recording artist or traveling doing a couple of shows twice a month in different venues would one want to do Broadway, again, unless it is a sincere dream or desire? any answers out there?

I love Clay so I won't comment because it will ain me to agree, but Carrie...wow. Come on guys, didn't you all love her totally emotionless performances on the show? When she had the mike in front of her mouth it looked like her face did not change at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good voice though.

Let's keep in mind that the idol winners are just that...American Idol winners. They probably have some crazy contract to Simon or the rest of the AI clan where they have already sold thier first born to them. These winners probably don't get any say as to what they do with thier careers for quite a few years.
