I too find her performances utterly captivating. True, her voice is very hit or miss (especially in Wicked, a role that was written way out of her vocal range, especially for more than a 2 year run), but she has a rawness to her that I enjoy. She has been doing a lot though. I'm sure she'll return soon. I think she's waiting for the right project. I know she did a workshop of the musical, "Nero" a while back. Regarding her pay, it is public knowledge that she was the highest paid actress in the West End during her 4 month run in Wicked, making 35,000 dollars a week.

I saw Idina in concert about a year ago. She opened the Boston Pops' 2010 season. She was in terrific voice and pretty much had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand.

So, yeah it's been answered a dozen times already, so I won't repeat those answers, but how about...

Why does Idina have to do something just because Kristin did? They're not conjoined twins...

For those who may be unawares, Idina's said she has a couple NEW musicals in the works - one is with Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), and another is with "a different group of songwriters from Los Angeles who have a more pop background."

She also just launched her non-profit organization, A BroaderWay, that's devoted to helping underprivileged inner-city girls have a chance to follow their dreams of being performers. Plus, she's writing/recording a new album. And performing non-stop to sold out/mostly sold out concert halls throughout the US.

Not really sure what more a fan can ask for right now, given that she's stated many times she can't go live in NYC for months to do a Broadway show, with Taye being in LA, and them having a child together - we really are quite spoiled now lol. They always spent time apart before the baby, but they seem pretty cohesive now.

Yea, I forgot th baby part before I posted. But what do you mean about her not needing to do everything Kristin does? Do you find people are comparing her to Kristin too much? Also when you tour, you tend to go off the radar so I didn't realize she was touring. I hope she comes to my city! :)

Um, yes? And you just did it, and completely unnecessarily. I mean, I know it's almost habitual - I do it, too. But it's still so annoying. Why does Idina have to be "doing something" just because Kristin is? Are they not allowed to have their own lives? lol

Completely agree re the Chess concert. She looked physically awkward, sounded shrill and didn't connect with any of the other performers. I am neither a freaky KE fan nor a IM hater but I must say Kerry Ellis absolutely wiped the floor with Idina in Chess.

People generally forget that she opened Wicked in London as well (and was the West End's highest paid female performer at the time). I saw her in concert a few years ago at the House of Blues in Chicago and it was one of the best concerts I've ever attended. She has amazing presence and a talent for developing a rapport with the audience. She's been pretty busy since her Broadway stint in Wicked and when she's ready, she'll no doubt return to Broadway.

Idina said in an interview that she is not the kind of actress who would do revivals. She'd much rather do new musicals. Right now she's also focused on doing television and film.

We won't see Idina back on Broadway until Taye is done with PRIVATE PRACTICE, or the show is canceled/ends.
