Of all the Glinda's I've seen come and go, Thompson (in my opinion) is by far the strongest (even over Chenoweth.)
While I felt Kristin Chenoweth was great (she IS Kristin Chenoweth after all,) I think alot of what she did was her traditional 'shtick, where as I felt like Thompson really took a concious effort to bring out something new in the role.
Jennifer was able to take the part and make it much more than a bubble gum stereotype of a crazy blonde. She gave the character heart, charm, humor, and depth, which is something the overwhelming majority of the actresses to play Glinda just aren't able to do. She may have had a bad tendency to go for the laughs a bit too much (a fault she herself admits to,) but I still found her performance wonderfully engaging and incredibly enjoyable.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
When I saw Jennifer, I fell in love with her. Everything she did in Wicked was perfect! Her singing, her acting, her timing...everything. I hope one day she comes back.
I loved her and her Glinda. She had the best comedic timing of anyone I have seen in the role and she always looked comfortable in the role. I wish her the best.
