Look at the iten for the Fiddler tour:

So wicked will close before June 9th, 2009.
That is my two year Wicked anniversary.
I'm sorta shocked it's closing because it's jam packed everytime I go by the theatre....but Fiddler? There's no way that a Fiddler on the Roof tour is going to make more money for the theatre than Wicked.
no way in hell.
Wicked Chicago has been rumored for a long time to close in Jan. and tour '09 and sit down in Toronto '10. I'm just sad that the closing is true
I love FOTR, though!
Not really that big of a shock. Sure, it was an open ended run. And, those usually run 2-3 years. Nothing's changed.

I'm not believing anything until I get an official announcement.
Well if a tour is coming to a theatre with a show already in it, that show needs to close, there is your official announcement.

Shows can be switch theatres, so don't take that as a guarantee just yet. There was another tour (can't remember which, I'm sorry) scheduled to play the Oriental before the Chicago sitdown was announced; once it was official, the tour was moved to another theatre.
The open-ended run of "Wicked" will celebrate its third anniversary this summer. Though I will be sad to see it close, it's had a healthy run. I think it's time to free up the Oriental for other shows.
The real sad thing is that we have to get a tour of Fiddler...
I have trouble believing that Broadway in Chicago is going to close its biggest money maker for a tour of Fiddler. I will have to wait until I see something official from either Broadway in Chicago or some Chicago area newspaper or a Broadway site.
I mean considering the number of upcoming tours that had to switch their mid west debuts to Michigan due to the lack of theatre space in Chicago I doubt that now all of a sudden they are going to close Wicked. Which is as I said Broadway in Chicago's biggest money maker.
It's not just a tour of Fiddler it's closing for, but all subsequent shows that need a home as they pass through Chicago. That said, it still does seem a little odd for such a big moneymaker to close.

I don't want the Chicago production to close...It's my closest production, and I love going in for a couple days to see it! Waa. Sad news :[
Where have you been?
HOLY CRAP!
With each passing year, I hate "Fiddler on the Roof" just a little bit more...
This really sucked last time it came through....UGH!

The Nationla tour of Little Shop of Horrors was originally scheduled to play the Oriental Theatre until it was decided that Wicked would become a sit-down. That show was then moved to the Auditorium Theatre. I believe there was another show also booked that had to be moved, but don't recall if that's just my imagination! :o)
Wicked is closing in Feb of 09. It has made an anouncement of January 09 and will extend for a month then close. We have allready got the show lineup for 09 here at broadway in chicago. And Wicked is not really the biggest money maker anymore. Yesterday there were only 950 in the house which seats 2200. The weekends are sold out during tourist season and thats about it

From Variety:
"CHICAGO
Jersey Boys (M-3rd Co.) LaSalle Bank Theater ($95; 1,918; $1,213,120) (10/1/06-OE).
PW, $1,186,432.
Last (27th) wk, $1,041,030.
Wicked (M-2nd Co.) Ford Center ($82; 2,243; $1,224,272) (6/24/05-OE).
PW, $1,264,894.
Last (143rd) wk, $1,067,066."
Wicked took a dip, but still made over $1million AND STILL made more than Jersey Boys. It is obviously BIC's biggest money maker. The week before was even higher and still beat out Jersey Boys. So to say it isn't its biggest money maker is ridiculous.

950 in the house? Less than half capacity? I'm sorry to be skeptical but I've been at Wicked on a weeknight and never seen anything close to that. And if Wicked in Chicago has announced a closing date could you please give a link to that being reported in any mainstream media? I'm not saying it hasn't been reported on boards like these but it would be a very large story in say, the Chicago Tribune and I have seen no such coverage.

Wicked in LA is offcially closing in January, however Broadway in Chicago has made no official announcement about the Chicago production. Trokia saying saying a show is coming in to the theater does not constitute an official announcement. This does not mean that it is untrue, but as of now, Wicked is still listed as an open-ended run with no closing date posted.
