Ok--so exactly what part of Merry Ol Land of Oz IS that? I either don't recognize it or I just can't NOT hear 'you're outta the woods'...is it the same, because I'm almost certain that is what I am hearing
"I don't think you understand, you're having delusions of granduer" is "Follow the Yellow Brick Road"
The Unlimited Theme throughout the play is the first 7 notes of Somewhere Overthe Rainbow.

There are (way too) many nods to The Wizard of Oz in Wicked, but I wouldn't call them "hidden."
However, the things you guys said about the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," stuff is kind of interesting. Here and I thought Wicked had no depth at all! :)
Kringas, what alternate dimension of grammar are you living in? (And even if you are right, who the hell corrects people's grammar on internet message boards?)

"And even if you are right, who the hell corrects people's grammar on internet message boards?" - The Distinctive Baritone
Uh... everyone who has ever been on an internet message board.
EDIT: Though that's really more spelling, isn't it?
it is kinda rude and a waste of space
The Wizard and Elphaba's dance during Wonderful always looked to me at certain points like the skipping that Dororthy and the rest of them did when singing "Follow the Yellow Brick Road...."
1) "If I Only Had A Brain" when the Scarcrow appears in the finale.
2) "Merry Old Land Of Oz" which is the piccolo part when the sing "So I'll be back for good someday..."
3) "Optimistic Voices" which is the part you're out of the woods, you're out of the dark, you're out of the night...." which can be heard in the flute line of "One Short Day" The and the part it is in is: "So I'll be back for good someday..."
Maybe I'm a sap, but when I heard those few recognizable notes in the underscore from "If I Only Had a Brain," when Fiyero comes out on stage at the end, I found it rather touching. Very nicely done.

Right as Elphie is going up in DG, you can hear a re-worked version of the Wicked Witch theme in Wizard of Oz. I would sing it but obviously that can't be done via keyboard, but it was like dun dun dun dun dahhh dahhh (you know when she's riding her bike), well you can hear it in the background when Elphie is rising up, right before she sings "So if you care to find me..."
