I got back a while ago from my third trip to the Gershwin to see Wicked, and was blown away. Idina obviously got her act together because she gave the best performance I have seen so far (and I went to opening night of the show!). She justified her Tony win beyond belief. Kristin toned it down A LOT which was good at some parts, but at others, she lost some of her best jokes in the show, and drowned herself out. She was still great though, and Sean McCourt (who has taken over Joel Grey's role as the Wizard until Joel is done battling bronchitus) was excellent. He is a huge talent and will hopefully take over Mr Greys role after he leaves the show in January. Everything and everyone today achieved perfection! The show was a knockout and the cast got a huge round of applause, and of course, a standing ovation. If anyone is going soon, you are in luck! Both girls are great (Idina especially) and the show is still wowing audiences. 'Defying Gravity' proved itself as one of the best scenes in musical-theater history. It was wonderful!!!!!!

Honey I ADORE Wicked - but how many times have you seen it? I almost feel like you're overdoing it a bit! I think this is why people think all Wicked fans are going a bit overboard. But anyway I'm glad you had fun. Updated On: 7/7/04 at 09:40 PM

What was YOUR opinion of Randy? I wanna see him so bad!
He was OK. Hes not the best singer ever, but he pulled it off. Not bad.

Shesings, 3 times is nothing for some people.
Glad you had a good time...

bwaytheatre11 - I know I know. I've seen it more than 3 times myself. However I don't continually post things about the show or Cheno. I LOVE THEM - but I'm sort of sick of everyone criticizing the Wicked fans for being obsessive - so I thought maybe we could tone it down a bit. However then again why should we have to ... AUGH! I don't know!!!
It is 2004 and I am still a freak of RENT. RRRRREEEEEEENNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTTTTTT
My friend knows George Hearn and he claims that Hearn was already offered the role of the Wizard for when Joel leaves in Janurary and has accepted it.
CastAlbum, Rentheads are dreafully scary and psychotic, and they have all seen Rent a good 20 times or more.
And some Wicked fans are even worse than that. I tend to stay away from the community of 20 year olds and middle aged women who stalk Idina and Kristin and refuse to sit farther back in the theatre than second row because then their beloved Cheno cannot see that they are stalking her. I have heard several of them say "I only have one ticket for Wicked this week...that is SO weird."
God it's making me sick just thinking about it. Anyway...WickedRocks does not sound as psychotic as those nuts I just discussed, she has only seen the show three times.

no! dont stop posting when you see a show and its great! forget the people who get annoyed! the subject says "Wicked matinee today was AMAZING" people can probably figure what will be inside and if they are annoyed by wicked they dont have to read!!!!! I like reading the wicked posts and Im sure others like it too and those posting like posting! Everyone can get off their high horse and enjoy the site! ITS JUST A MESSAGE BOARD! :) :) :) :) :) (i felt it needed a smile or two bc it was kinda hostile, lol)

i saw wicked last night, and was BLOWN AWAY!!! it was sooo good! much better than the 1st time. i think that idina and kristen have really perfected their roles. and also, id like to say that when i went to the stage door, kristen *adored* the wicked plate i made her, and very carefully signed her name, not just putting a KC on it. she even commented on how much she loved it. she really made my night!
Wicked rox my sox- thats SOOOOOOO cool! Kristin is so nice that way!
Whatdoineedwithlove?- Thank you! Finally someone with sense makes a post. :)
I have to agree that Sean McCort was/is aweseome as the wizard. I still would like to see Mr. Grey, but Mr. McCort was probably just as good.

Whatdoineedwithlove?-you took the words right out of my mouth! i'm tired of Wickedfans being beaten down for loving a show! so i enjoy the show, GET OVER IT. yay for WICKED!
WickedRoCks-i'm SO glad to hear about your experience! pleaze, keep posting--it's my way of staying in touch with the show! (there are downsides to living on the West Coast).
Wicked rox my sox-that's awesome! it must have made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
btw, i love your screen name. today i was thinking what a cute name Wicked rox my sox would be, and then i come in and find it! funny, huh?

Ok - not going to get perturbed about the lack of awareness of history - just going to make a suggestion. Look up
George Hearn at ibdb.com (internet broadway database) - you'll see that Mr. Hearn has a bit of a background. He's even on tape - in the SWEENEY TODD recorded with Angela Lansbury. They would be exptraordinarily LUCKY to have him.
George Hearn who?
You mean Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Albin from La Cage?
Never heard of him. Was he in Rent?
I've seen Wicked 5 times since it opened but really just because I love this cast...the chemistry between cheno and Idina is the best I've seen on a Broadway stage...I'm going down for Kristin's final and then I already had tickets for one on my bday (after cheno leaves...I'm not as excited but it's still row B dead center so I'll probably still go unless i get really poor and decide to sell it) and then my beloved front row seat for idina's final show.

I don't mean the Tony winner from SUNSET BOULEVARD either. It's all just a big coincidence
And I REFUSE to be snide about this! If someone doesn't know about something, the best way to find out is to ask - and that's just what they did. Good for you! Today's lesson was Broadway performers who've made a mark - remember this in 20 years when someone says "Idina who?" (maybe make that 10)
Elphielives- Youre sooo lucky!
Broadwaystar2b- Sorry for not knowing who George Hearn is. Geez

How do you have front row seats to Idinas last show? Her last date hasnt been announced and they reserve front row for lotto
I don't know if people will be saying Idina who in 10 years...she's created roles in 2 of the hottest shows in recent history.
If she keeps doing her thing, she more than likely will be remembered, but the shows that she originated roles in will live forever. I mean, RENT changed the face of musical theatre forever. Even if it closes (PLEASE GOD DON'T LET IT), it will always be talked about.
