Though I didn't see the Leno appearance, StephanietheStar makes a very good point about people "seeing things" that others (including me) don't seem to see. Some of you just enjoy tearing performers to shreds. Just wondered how many posters on this board are currently featured in a major Broadway touring show. Let me know, so if you come to my town, I can buy a ticket then joyously tear your performances to shreds on the message board.

I was disappointed. Not to "tear the performers to shreds," because I am sure they are somewhat talented, but last night's performance looked like a high school production of the show.

I can't imagine choosing to see the show based on that performance. At least when Idina was on Letterman last year the show looked interesting.

Okay, first of all, yall are dumb. Glinda is SUPPOSED to be ditzy and jumpy in that scene (duh) and if you've seen the show or know ANYTHING about Wicked you would know that. Secondly, I agree it wasn't fantastic, but I think they did excellent considering that it was a small stage, and it wasn't the BROADWAY cast, it was the CALIFORNIA cast. It's a little different. I thought they did really good for not being the broadway cast, and that's all. So, peace out. And show a little respect.

musicaldude- Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Plus, maybe Kendra was TOO bouncy. Oh, and believe me when I say that everyone knows what Wicked is on this board. Some may not have seen the show, but a lot have probably heard the music...such as myself. And please. Get one thing straight. This is the TOURING cast. Not the CALIFORNIA cast.

It was the national tour and, frankly, I expect more of them. The whole point of a touring cast is to take a Broadway-level production to those who can't go to Broadway. I think they should be held to the same standards...and I KNOW Stephanie is much better than she was last night. My question is who picked One Short Day? It looks ridiculous out of context (and pretty silly IN context).

Also, did anyone else notice the one female voice in the ensemble that was louder than all the others? She annoyed me...

ok, and second of all you are dumb for:

1)Double posting

2)Not realizing that they are the National TOURING cast and not the CALIFORNIA cast.

3)Not realizing that even though they are not on Broadway they are still BROADWAY caliber, and that very often touring cast members are SUPERIOR to their Broadway cast counterparts.

Um, ok. Talk about a backhandd compliment. I've seen productions in California that blew their NY counterparts away. Not sure why you seem to think a Broadway cast is automatically superior.

If i "tore their performance apart," I am deeply sorry. I love them both but it was just an off performance, maybe to do with the space but I am still going to see them on tour, and i'm sure it will be spactacular. just an off performance.

The ensemble was ok but the leads were horrific........just your usual Musical Theatre toned girls that are not good for these roles. What a shame!

Just because someone is in a touring company does not mean that they deserve accolades for their part or their performance. There are many fine actors who are actually better than their broadway counterparts but unfortunately for the LAcast of Wicked...the leads far fall short of accolades. They may be very talented women but just very wrong for these parts!

I saw the show in LA on Sunday evening and they were all fantastic. I didn't get to see Stephanie or Kendra as they were both out so I can't really comment on them. I can however comment that the ensemble was FANTASTIC.

going back up like 10 posts i did notice the one louder girl, and at the end during the overlappong part it sounded like one guy was doing the "who's that mage.." part by himself

That is absolutely, completely untrue. Stephanie earned unanimously strong reviews from all the LA critics. Kendra did not. Please do make blanket statements unless you can back it up with facts.

I saw the tour - Stephanie is BRILLIANT, enjoyed Kendra thoroughly - but somehow....... who picked THAT number to showcase the show?????? Just didn't do the show justice IMO. But whoever has bought tickets will NOT be disappointed.

I saw it, it was okay. I mean, when all you've only seen it on Broadway 5 times, it takes A LOT of getting usued to. But the performance was okay.

Edit: Kendra kind of gets on my nerves. Steph is okay with me, but Kendra does this weird bouncy thing in the middle of a not so bouncy moment. I don't know, I noticed this. Updated On: 7/19/05 at 04:47 PM

Ok, wow some people are getting really worked up about this...

Sure it was a bad choise of song, I thought 'What's this feeling' would have been better...it's more exciting in my book. BUT i don't think there's the need to call it a terrible performance or compare it to a high school musical. I saw Steph in the touring cast and she is and was absoultly amazing!I've never seen Kendra before, and by this performance she wasn't the best Glinda...but she is talented.

I also saw the few errors made...but they weren't that noticable...actually some were...

Ah well everyone has had better bays, better performances.

you guys are kinda mean...(except Sydney! :))
I've seen the Bway cast once, the touring cast 2 times (2 different Elphies) and the Chicago cast once (twice tomorrow!).

The bway cast is ehhh..ok. The Touring cast is fabulous! Stephanie is wonderful, Kendra is great. the ensemble is terrific.

We all know that "One Short Day" is not a "listen to how great I sound!" song..the lead's parts are all in the same range and half of them are meant to be spoken. I've seen the show 4 times now and trust me--that was waaaay better than anything the bway cast can offer, and about even with what the other two casts can offer.

When you guys can go out there and perform 8 shows a week (especially with a horrible injury) then I'll respect these comments :)

Disclaimer: no one get mad at me for this..cuz I really don't want to argue...and I expect there will be many arguements.

Yeah I'm quite shocked as well. I just saw the tour this past Thursday evening in LA and I was really impressed by both Kendra and Stephanie. I thought they both sounded great vocally so that's kind of surprising that their performance on Leno didn't turn out well. Maybe it was just a combination of bad circumstances.....Anyways but as someone else said, yeah who picked One Short Day to sing? Definitly one of the weaker and lesser songs in the show.

okay guys. I have seen the show eight times. Seven in NYC and then I flew up to Toronto to see it (I adore the show and I'm not a kid either :)
Anyway, my feeling is that neither Kendra nor Stephanie were miked correctly. You could barely hear them above the ensemble. As for their performances, I saw them in Toronto and Stephanie is terrific and Kendra is just okay. That's my two cents (having seen Kristen and JBL and Idina and Soshana, I think I have a good perspective on the actresses - - all of which were good - - but Kendra is my least favorite).

I think most of you are being a bit rough on the performers. My guess is that they chose that song as it gives a good opportunity to'sell the show' through the visuals i.e the great costume designs. They probably wanted to do a group number to show the size of the show too, but unfortunately the smaller staging area just made it looked cramped. I would hazard a guess and say they probably got all of an hour to adapt to the small stage hence the bumping etc. Taking that into account I think they did pretty well.
