SO--It was my plan to go to Little Shop this afternoon and try the lottery since I was a few blocks away. Didn't think I'd actually win!! I'm 2/3 on the Chicago Lottery..and people have gone a couple dozen times and never won--so unfair! WeLL!
Little Shop--Great performances by Tari Kelly and the Urchins! wow! We had the u/s for Seymour (can't remember his name off the top but will look if anyone really wants to know). He was also fantastic! the show was very cute and kitchy--what I thought was funny is the audience was FILLED with little kids!!! I was like "do their parents know ANYTHING about this show?!?!" It was a great show--but not really worth the $80 (well $40 really--Buy 1 get one Free) a Ticket that we spent :)
WELL---Wicked! OMG..Ana was awesome! I noticed lots of mistakes throughout the entire show--but that comes with seeing it for my 4th time! ahha. One obvious one--Defying Gravity! ya know how the cape is supposed to be draped over the cherry picker's "arm" behind her so you can't see it? and how the extra material is supposed to wrap around the small platform so you can't see her feet? Yeah...didn't happen! I could clearly see the platform and clearly see the arm behind her! it was only slightly bad though. Ana made up for it in crazy high belting!!
Turns out Ms. Heidi Kettenring I saw in Sunset Boulevard about a year ago at the Mariott Theatre! I was so excited! she's a very versitile actress and I was VERY impressed w/ her Nessa! great!
OMG--Kate Reinders...what a phenomenal performance! wow. She not only is the funniest Glinda I've seen, but the most pleasant to listen to. Kendra was funny and had a good voice. JLT was halarious, and had a good voice. But Kate...there is just something about her that I adored!!
Kristoffer! WAS THE BEST FIYERO! hands down! I love Derrick, since.he knows my name! lol but Kristoffer was the best! Best voice, best character, best dancing....WOW. He remembered me and my friend Kat from when we met him in NY! awww so hot!
Telly was a great Boq! I loved Logan in this role sooo much I didn't think I'd like anyone else..but Telly makes it his own and is uncomparable to Logan! So fantastic!
the guy who plays "the witch's father" and a bunch of other roles (his name is Don...something) I KNEW had to be the same guy as the one in the tour! I asked him and told him I remembered him cuz I thought he was sooo fantastic in the tour the first 2 times I saw it (it's such a small role but he is very rememberable!) and he seemed very flattered I knew of him! what a nice guy!
not to brush over but this is very long! The Wizard and Madame Morrible were also very very good!
Updates:::::::::::
CHORUS UPDATE: I forgot to add that this is the best ensemble I've heard yet! The chorus numbers were so full and loud and perfectly blended! I got goosebumps MANY many times during the full company numbers.
AND KATE AND ANA: Their harmonies on DG and For Good were gorgeous! they were so perfectly in tune that you hear that "lock" that comes when you hear two notes that are perfectly in tune-which I never remembered hearing on the tour. (I found that on the tour Stephanie had to bring her voice down a lot for Kendra and for Derrick...just me) On that note..as long as you're mine was amazing vocally--perfectly blended harmonies again!
Kate told us outside she has bronchitis (spelling? sorry!) but I would have never been able to tell! she took all the high C's that are on the cast recording (thank goodness "TodayyyyYY") that Kendra didn't take (the girl on the bridge does for you tour goers). and she put the most emotion I've ever seen into Thank goodness..I was about to cry actually :) she is awesome..can't wait to go again!!!
I love my Chicago cast!
