Hi all,
Will Charlotte be doing one last run in CHICAGO? She's my fave Roxie, and I would love one last chance to see Roxie's Soliloquoy as only she can do it.
Tried searching, but couldn't find anything.

Charlotte Rae is in 70 GIRLS 70.
Charlotte d'Amboise is prepping for Cassie in A CHORUS LINE.
Charlotte never really stays away from CHICAGO. I am sure once her run is done in ACL, CHICAGO will still be open. And I'm sure the Weisslers will have her back one more time.
She's played the role on and off for 9 years.

"

re: Will Charlotte be coming to CHICAGO?#7
Posted: 3/27/06 at 6:51pmNot really, she's about to be playing a leading role in a new revival.

Trust me, after A CHORUS LINE. I think Charlotte will definitely become a bigger Broadway name.
But yep, she is returning to Chicago before ACL!

Then hopefully bye-bye Chicago. and hello ACL!

The first time I saw Chicago I missed her but got to see Belle Callaway who was great. I did catch Charlotte in an early preview of Sweet Charity and really enjoyed her performance. Looks like I might make a return trip to Chicago in May.

Does anyone know who's Velma Kelly she will be playing against when she returns? I would give anything to see her and Brenda Braxton together again...

Feel bad for Charlotte????
WHY?
I'm not saying she isn't amazingly talented, but she is working. Plenty of amazingly talented people with not nearly as much work coming in as for Ms. D'Amboise.

Yeah, but being a top notch triple threat that d'Amboise is, she deserves more.
She has become known as the "replacement queen." And she is kind of the Weissler's "bitch" - they throw her in the show whenever they don't feel like looking for a new Roxie.
But this is ALL changing, this fall.

Doogie -- you're 100% correct. Why feel bad for Charlotte? She has consistently worked for YEARS. That's what it's all about in this business. I'd feel bad if she was unemployed for 8 out of the last 10 years, but she's gone from one project to another and worked on several projects simultaneously on occasion. Many actors would KILL to be in that situation. You may think of her as the Weissler's b*tch, but I'm sure she doesn't view it that way. She's been able to leave a Weissler project to have a baby and then she's allowed to return when she wants. She's been allowed to work on other projects and come back to Chicago. I'm sure that's due to the fact that the Weissler's know she's a reliable, talented professional.
Another triple threat that I put in the same category as Charlotte is Karen Ziemba. She's someone who should have been a top-level Broadway star, but she has also ended up the "replacement queen." Many thought that Steel Pier would be her breakout role, but it didn't happen.

Well, Charlotte is the one who started calling herself the "replacement queen."
So I think she must feel a little crappy being the Weissler's "bitch."
Things are going to change for her though.

i never saw either version, but from things i read it seems a big ole shame that Applegate recovered and Charlotte didn't go further with "Charity".
ooh, spooky - Charlotte played "Lola" in "Damn Yankees" and her boss was "Applegate"...the dumb hack in "Sweet Charity" was named Applegate...oooh!
re: Will Charlotte be coming to CHICAGO?#18
Posted: 3/28/06 at 4:16pmCharlotte called herself the replacement queen in one article, and since has said that she regrets it even to this very day.

Posted: 3/28/06 at 4:25pmIs her hubby (Terrence Mann) going to be in ACL? He was in the movie.... Or will be back as Javert in Les Mis (hope so!)?

The dates in the article, from what I can see, are wrong though. (edited to add that at 'early oclock' I read the article wrong and it does state that Charlotte and Brenda will return after Obba) Charlotte and Obba won't return at the same time. Charlotte will come into the company a week later and the intrim Roxie will be the faaaaaaaaaabulous Tracy Shayne.

"Triple Threats: Babatunde, d'Amboise and Braxton Return to Broadway's Chicago April 17"
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/98958.html
This is odd. Playbill posted this article today reporting that Charlotte returns tonight, but on Telecharge it says that she does not join until the 24th.
What's the deal?
