bland and hard pass. but the cast is trying hard to sell them best they can ... still .... no.
I'll start off my saying Michael Arden is a genius and one of the best Directors of all time - but why the heck are they charging over $400 for Orchestra tickets in that awful barn known as The Palace to this show on a Sat night in April?
Sure, the prices will drop, Not many are going can afford or will pay this kind of insane money for an unknown show with no stars attached. My question is, why? With the state of musicals this season - and quite possibly for seasons to come - in peril with high producing costs , etc - why would a new musical have the balls to charge this type of money? I am equal parts disappointed and disgusted.
James Carpinello, Marcus Chait, and Patrick Wilson (producers) should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen - and perhaps for being a small part of the reason life long theater goers like myself aren'y buying tickets to musicals any longer.
If it wasn't at that awful Palace Theater then I of course would look at Mezz/Balocny tickets but this theater is just too friggin big to want to sit anywhere else but Orchestra.
And before someone jumps on to remind me that this is indeed a business - it is a business that is in peril. Folks don't have disposable incomes like this for an unknown property (yes some of us will remember the movie from when we were kids). A small part of the destruction of theater in general.
I would much rather go spend that on Lily Allen (when she tours) or see 2-4 Off Broadway plays.
So, Patrick, James and Marcus - be better, do better,.

Arden's brilliance comes at a price and the producers are pricing tickets to offset those expensive creative/financial choices. QOV and MHE both struggle with high running costs.
