I know that they were campaigning to get it back to Broadway even before the Tony nominations and with a "Best Musical" nomination people will definitely want to see it if they missed it when it was on. Do you think the new Tony nominations will really help it get back to Broadway?
I doubt it. It could go into the Booth, but to gather up the entire cast, rehearse the show for a week or so and then re-open the end of May/beginning of June seems highly unlikely.
As much as I'd like to see it again, I doubt it's going to happen. They would pretty much have needed to already BE in rehearsal so that they could immediately into a tech situation in order to allow the voters to see it. Ain't gonna happen.
(But if it does, I'll race to the box office.)

They could however get it back to a smaller house off broadway possibly.
Yes, it is highly doubtful. The only way I could see “The Scottsboro Boys” returning to Broadway very soon is if it won Best Musical, Direction, Choreography, Score, and perhaps for one performance. If “The Book of Mormon” weren't such a critical and audience smash, then it might have prevailed in another season when the winning show wasn't so obvious.
The great thing is that “The Scottsboro Boys” has been recognized as a bonafide artistic success. The brief original Broadway run does not reflect the value of the piece itself. I think it's the economic environment, plus the ever-increasing craving from Broadway musical audiences to see spectacle – and better yet, direct involvement with a show – that killed the Kander & Ebb show that could... n't...
I think for many of those theatergoers who love an experience like “Priscilla,” sitting through “The Scottsboro Boys” might feel akin to being on a school field trip and watching a PBS musical documentary.

I'm being told that it is actually something that might happen now.
I feel like there are many shows of Kander & Ebb that need to be revived before this crap. But then if it makes you BWWers happy, I'm all for it. One less show I will spend money on.
As always, so glad you chimed in.
Honey, just because this show went over your head doesn't make it a piece of crap.

Is that a joke, Jordan? Don't get my hopes up!

I hope it does come back. It was thought provoking and wonderful. I would go see it again.
Jordan, my heart just stopped reading your post. Nothing could make me happier.

I'm still not sure it was serious! I'm going crazy...I need to see this live!
I hope it happens. I trust where I heard it that it's a possibility...
Well, please keep us posted! I passed two of the cast members on the street today and wanted to ask them!

YAY! Did the place you heard it from specify Broadway or off-Broadway?
If it does return for a limited engagement...I wonder if it could petition for Best Revival consideration next year?
I doubt it...unless it's a completely new production...
I think there's a required minimum of 3 years between productions to be considered a revival.

Isn't it five years?
Yes, probably. I think I just pulled three out of the air.

I only remember that because this same thing came up when there were whispers of a [title of show] "revival". Here's hoping Scottsboro is more successful in its plans to return!
Nope, you're right. It's 3!
Is the film version still being planned?
