It seems that Amy Spanger doesn't know how to manage her voice. I saw
Rock of Ages very early in the run and she was sounding quite hoarse. I'm not surprised to hear about her absence problem, since she was also chronically out of
The Wedding Singer a few years back. (Between her and Laura Benanti, Tina Maddigan and Cara Cooper must've been the two luckiest understudies on Broadway) Rock scores take a HUGE toll on your voice, especially when you aren't managing it properly...which seems to be the case here.
