For 1 new song & several deleted ones by the same 2 stars. It begets the question: Why ?

For Uma "attempting" to belt? WHY NOT?
RENT basically was the same Original Broadway Cast, and no new songs (LOVE HEALS was not new.) And did almost everyone from the board run and out buy it? Yes.

I'm gonna wait 40 years and buy the Rhino Handmade soundtrack with all the deleted numbers, the orchestral underscoring and the demo tracks.

Did not care for the OBCR. Had the chance to see it with Lane and Broderick but I am not a big Nathan Lane fan. With that said, I will probably see the movie, (it's cheaper!) but won't buy the soundtrack.

I saw the movie in a special screening, and without saying anything about the film itself, the music was almost exactly as it is on the OBCR. I enjoyed it very much, but Uma is no Cady when it comes to singing. JMHO.

Is there anyone you could compare Uma's voice to?
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Why you ask? I'm a devoted fan - I really like this show (so sue me
). Everyone went out and bought the Rent soundtrack (myself included) - it's the same general concept. If you don't want to get it, then don't - it's a personal choice. I don't understand the need to put down people who do.

I like the Producers and all, but I have no desire to get myself another recording for the show.
That being said, knowing the cast recording whore I am...

Mrmidwest - Her voice is very breathy, almost like Nicole Kidman's but deeper. It works for the one song she has to sing. And I don't care what anyone says, I'm absolutely sure it wasn't her dancing 100% of the time either.
