Press Release:

Former Hollyoaks stars Emma Rigby and Paul Holowaty make their WestEnd acting debuts alongside ‘Avenue Q’ star Daniel Boys and Gregg Lowe in the London premiere of the psycho-sexual musical thriller, 'Wolfboy'.

'Wolfboy' is adapted from the play by Brad Fraser (Love & Human Remains) by Russell Labey and Leon Parris. The original play is famous for a 1984 production in Toronto starring a then unknown Keanu Reeves.

Wolfboy?!

I saw it at the Edinburgh Fringe last August. It was mindblowingly brilliant. And both Gregg Lowe and Paul Holawaty were awesome. No doubt they will have worked on the show since then, so it's likely to be even better now - and it now has Daniel Boys as well!

Here's my review from last summer's Fringe:

I've seen several of Brad Frasers plays at the RX in Manchester. They're higher on ambition than they are on delivery.

Turned in a two star review for it this afternoon.

Good story, interesting ideas and design, but the score is repetitive and loop heavy, and the acting is flat, flat, flat. At least we don't have to suffer Danel Boys attempting (and ailing miserably) at an American accent this time.

SADM - do not miss this show! I know there have been some negative comments, but go and make your own mind up. I obviously cannot comment on the Trafalgar production as I have not been able to get to see it. But I was totally blown away by it in Edinburgh last August - one of the most emotionally powerful things I've ever seen on stage. It's an incedible piece of writing - great subtlety of sub-text. And the music was hauntingly beautiful throughout - no great stand-alone songs as such, just everything worked perfectly for the piece. The two central performances were astonishing in Edinburgh. The only weakness was Lee Latchford-Evans and he's been replaced by Daniel Boys for the London show.

I am really sick that it's on at the Trafalgar Studios for only a few weeks when there's no way I can get to London as I would love to see this again. Those who just want a light piece of entertainment from their night out at the theatre probably will not like it - but any fan of serious musical theatre should at least give it a try. As I wrote in my Five Star review in Edinburgh, it's harrowing and deeply disturbing, but I also thought it was "mindblowingly brilliant".

bob8rich - There's subtext? I didn't notice any subtext, not unless you count what they were clubbing us over the head with.
#18

Wolfboy?!

You call your fella 'it'?
#19

Wolfboy?!

I thought the sub-text was multi-layered - so much subtelty in the writing and so much that was conveyed simply by the beautiful performances of Howatty and Lowe.

Bob, you know they're using your "mindblowingly brilliant" quote on the posters? I saw the show last night.
#21

Wolfboy?!

Mamma oops i cant believe i just called him 'it', don't tell him because he will get the whip out lol.

Congrats Bob and having your review quote used, its always exciting when that happens. Mine was used on the tour and Saddlers Wells production of Susan and Darren, its a great feeling.

Thanks for letting me know about the poster, Carrie - that's cool. Unfortunately I won't be in London at all during its run to be able to see the poster at the theatre. And thanks SADM. I just hope now that when you see it the show lives up to my hype LOL.
