I really hate (and I am going to mess up the title I'm sure) The "two singing songbirds on display" song from Sideshow. It's the song that opens act II I believe and is just ugh for me. I actually love most of that show but I cannot stand that song. I also secong the "anything from joseph" post...terrible show.
I feel validated to see that so many people share my distaste for The Music Man. My answer: Shipoopi. Worst Broadway song ever? No, probably not, but worst song from a musical that's somehow made it into the general musical theater canon. How I hate that show.

I second all of these:
"Something Bad" - Wicked
"Send in the Clowns" - A Little Night Music
"Love From A Heart of Gold" - How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
"I Should Tell You" - RENT
I fourth (or third) the defense for 1776. The score is just brilliant. But I'll tell you this one thing, my dad is SO against the song "Our Little Secret" from PROMISES, PROMISES. I agree with him, but I only like the last part of the song where it's more upbeat. Other than that, that's my pick for the worst Broadway song ever.

"I got the sun..." -- ANNIE GET YOUR GUN
"Autumn" -- TITANIC
Almost the entire score of NOTRE DAME DE PARIS
Oh people are you drunk??

"You Are Not Real" from the Apple Tree is horrible. Maybe it's Alan Alda's execution of it, but I find to be almost unlistenable.
"Little Lamb" done correctly is incredibly touching and sad. I still think Natalie Wood's version of it with the film's musicbox like orchestration is the best version I've heard.
"Jerry Likes My Corn" from Grey Gardens is one of my favorite songs from the show. That last verse gives so much insight and perfectly ends the song.
"the Heat is On in Saigon"- Miss Saigon
but then again, personal taste dictates this will change at any given moment :)

I'm sorry, but everytime I se the title "Jerry Likes my Corn", I think of Jerry Herman and Carol "When did I eat corn?" Channing.
who ever said sue me is absolutly crazy
i love the interaction between the two
worst song ever

"Sue Me" is a great song when done right. But if done badly it could ruin it all together.
I like "Paris Makes Me Horny" from VICTOR/VICTORIA. It's not the best thing ever, but it's not that bad.
i think that the Music Man is one of the most overrated shows ever... i really dislike the music...
but Sue Me? really? i think that is a great song...
It's a Scandal, It's an Outrage from Oklahoma ties with It Takes a Woman from Hello Dolly.

I love "It Takes A Woman" from Dolly. Probably because of the way Walter Matthau sang it in the movie. lol. He couldn't sing a note but when he was singing, it made me go "Awwww". He reminded me of a little 3 year old trying to sing. lol.

I can't believe "Send In the Clowns" and "Litte Lamb" (which does sort of bring the show to a halt, but is far from terrible) get listed when there are songs like "Murder, Murder" and "I Love to Cry at Weddings" (and I like Sweet Charity) are out there.
Ooh, I forgot about It's a Scandal... I hate that song.
Something Bad-Wicked
Most children's solo songs-Tomorrow, Castle on a Cloud...you get the idea.
ETA: They aren't necessarily "bad" songs, I just cannot stand them.

Little Lamb I can kind of understand, although I think there are definitely some worse songs out there, but Send in the Clowns?!?! If sung properly that's such a gorgeous, haunting song.
Okay, we are not hating on 1776, or we will upset ShbrtAlley44. 1776 has a wonderful score.
I'd like to throw in "The Elephant Song" from 70, Girls, 70. I remember hearing it for the first time and wondering what the hell possessed someone to write it. "Alas For You" from Godspell, while important, is a pretty terrible song as well.

I was going to put that down, but I figured it was only a matter of time.
Wait-am I the only person who is SHOCKED by the multiple mentions of "Send in the Clowns"?! Obviously everyone's entitled to their opinion, this just seems like leagues away from the "Shipoopi"'s and "Something Bad"'s.
I think I'll add "Bride's Lament". I get it, but that doesn't mean I like it.

I'm joining you in the "Send in the Clowns" shock about 3 posts above ya, Being Alive :) Seriously, I really don't get how that winds up on a list like this.
It seems unfair to be pitting shows from entirely different categories and eras against each other. However... yeah, "A Sentimental Man" sucks. Also, not gonna lie, pretty much every song in Pippin is just god awful.

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand how someone could think that "Send in the Clowns" is bad. I know everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I'm trying not to disrespect anyone's opinion, but I don't get it.

SH*Te, I almost forgot about "OUT FOR BLOOD."
They should've just called it "Crackerjack" like they were supposed to, because it just sounds better than just talking about BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD. You could've used the "Crackerjack" metaphor. To paraphrase the old Burger King commercial, "If you ask me, it just SOUNDS better!"
