Worst Dance Numbers in Musicals

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ranks pretty high. It feels silly and really childish (which makes sense, considering the show. It's still obnoxious regardless) and the dancing is just disconnected and messy. Mary Poppins is overall not a fanatastic show, and while the song and number can be entertaining, it grates on someone fast.

The entirety of Bring Back Birdie. Need I say more?

It was hard to watch Believe in Finding Neverland. Some of that choreography was just ugly.

Totally agree with Supercali...

I also think Under the Sea in Little Mermaid was extremely disappointing and they could have so done much more with it.

To date, the Finding Neverland choreography (especially the "Believe" number, as Jorge wrote) is the worst I've ever seen on the Broadway stage.

Waitress' hilariously unnecessary pregnancy number choreography is a close second.

Every number in the original production of Carrie, especially Wotta Night. That's too obvious a choice though, so I'll keep thinking.

I hate pretty much the entire choreography of Waitress except "Never Ever Getting Rid Of Me" (and that one I'm pretty sure I liked because of Christopher Fitzgerald).

Its only in the movie, but I think the number that Kate Hudson had in Nine is probably the worst number in any musical EVER.

Did John Stamos' dancing in the Bye Bye Birdie revival made those eligible?

The choreography for the ensemble in Bright Star. I don't like bodies on the stage when they don't need to be there.

I know this seems contradictory but I didn't mind it in Waitress. At least when I saw it with Sara because everything seemed perfect that night.

Does "Dancing Through Life" count as a dance number? The So You Think You Can Dance choreography in the most recent Rockettes Spring Spectacular was not great.

I will need to think a bit more to come up with dance numbers that were actually bad.

I saw Wicked SO long ago, but there was a terrible number with those gymnast ribbons. Don't know what song but it was laughable!

I usually like Warren Carlyle, but I felt bad for Jan Maxwell for the choreography she was saddled with in the Follies revival.

A recent number that comes to mind is that tap dance sequence in Disaster! where Faith Prince's character died at the end of. Her character died because of the 'effort' her heart was under when she danced, but she was pretty much the one person onstage who wasn't tapping. Bad choreography, bad writing, bad direction.

The finale in "Dance of the Vampires" - I know the whole show was....well words can't explain it...but I still was very amused and highly enjoyed the 80's dancing and hearing, the then unknown, Mandy Gonzalez belt her brains out.

"We eat your blood and then we eat your soul, nothing's gonna stop let that bad times roll."

But the finale was like watch my 9 year old's dance recital.

The hyena battle in The Lion King. It's so horribly out of place with the rest of the show. It looks like a Dance Moms competition number that loses.

Too many unfunny trying to be funny ones in Young Frankenstein.

Just overall that show is a miss.
