"Does anyone else notice that people who have Jersy Boys pictures are all defending JLY's speech and saying that it was touching? For some reason, the word "biased" is flashing in my head."
Does anyone else notice that it's not JUST the people who have Jersey Boys pictures that are defending JLY's speech? Of course, the people who have JB pics are fans, and they are going to support the people they love. But I don't have ANY Jersey Boys pics, and I still thought John Lloyd Young's speech was moving. So, please tell me...where is the bias?
I'm with you on that bjh, and my opinion's the same as yours with his speech.
Although we only saw a snippet, but worst speech was Bob Crowley's. What a pretentious imbicile.

Beth Leavel's speech annoyed the heck out of me.
They even made fun of her on The Soup.
Her speech was fantastic.
What did they say about her on The Soup? haha.
Wasn't crazy about Hal Prince's speech and think he could have flown in especially for the occasion. JLY's speech was fine. After seeing it, (I was there and some people around me were sobbing. I was in the 1st mezz. among Jersey Boy supporters)I think it was very heartfelt. I forget who it was that kind of tagged onto his speech. That one didn't come off as well. And I think Julia was quite sincere in what she said. It came off a little awkward, but sincere to me. And I wasn't too crazy about the end of LaChanze's speech thanking Oprah. I know, I know....her name sells tickets. But there were more producers for that show. Not once, except on Oprah's show, have I heard Quincy Jones' name mentioned. It's like she is getting all the glory.
And It would be nice to hear more acceptance speeches that also thank the theatregoers. JMO
uncaged, you're so right, not a single one of these ****** mentioned the theatregoers, who are the ones that keep theatre alive.
It is something I always think about. And as I was standing in line waiting to get into Radio City I could feel the excitement from people who traveled across country to go to the awards, spent the 200 bucks to get in (or more maybe, got all dressed up and made a special night of it. I thought to myself as I was leaving, "I don't think any of the winners thanked the theatre fans". And It bothered me just a bit because I was one of those excited people who traveled across the country and made a special night of it!

Joel McHale said something about "theatre people being the carnie folk of the entertainment world" and they just showed her speech. Then McHale went into "Reality Clip Show Time" immitating her by going "breathe... breathe..."
I only saw it once, so I can't remember much.
