Would you pay $221 for Patti Lupone in SHOWS FOR DAYS?

Just curious if you think paying $221 for SHOWS FOR DAYS is a good idea? Or let me rephrase the question. Would you pay $221 to see Patti LuPone in SHOWS FOR DAYS?

Im a GWM but am fairly new to being a theater groupie and wonder why is Patti Lupone held in such high reguard? Especially in high reguards to other gay guys? I'm not trying to be a smart ass. I'm genuinely curious, that's all. Thanks.

Is GWM a Gay White Man?

Speaking as one, I love Patti LuPone because she's a dynamite talent and that lady has gotten the short end of the stick many times and repeatedly came back and beat the odds. And her voice is ridiculous. I love her. I can't speak for others though.

If I was in New York now I definitely would have seen the show.

Where on earth are you buying your tickets from? The show has far more affordable tickets; the top price is $87 from Lincoln Center.

Um, I was looking at the app Seat geek, because on Broadway.com it said the show was sold out. So you are saying there are still $87 tickets?

Yes, maybe I should have left the white part out. But I was talking to my friend in London and I asked him if he liked Patti LuPone. And he replied, "of course. I'm a gay male." So are all gay males supposed to like her? I'm 45 and wasn't really very familiar with her until I started learning more about theater earlier this year.

Pinto, they have rush (limited to students) and something much better, Linctix, which allows you to buy reserved seats at the same price (or thereabouts). Joining is free.

Yes. The Supremes Court decided that right after they decided all gay white men want to get married.

Well first off, NEVER buy tickets from Broadway.com, they cost more than buying them from the source because they're a ticket broker. Have you not tried http://www.lct.org/shows/shows-days/? Also, yes, as a queer white male, I ****ing adore Patti. She worked for what she has and she is still a dynamo and an absolute knockout. She's also wise with a touch of bitterness, and I get why some people don't like her in some roles, but I've never met anyone who all around hates her.

I get to see Patti in concert this coming year and i'm thrilled! I would see her in anything. My favorite Patti quote: Seth Rudetsky "So like you Bernadette and Betty changed the face of Broadway. Do you think of yourselves as the three divas?" Patti: "No. I think of only one diva..."

I'm a huge Patti fan. To me she always delivers. I haven't seen her in everything, but I loved what I've seen. She's really great in this. But I don't think it's worth that amount of money. I paid $30. And it's on TDF.

Nope

In fairness, would not pay that for any ticket. My wife would, however, pay anything (within reason) to see Charles Aznavour.

This is a charming, funny, ultimately touching but very unfocused play. Still, she's wonderful and has lots of great moments (though unfortunately no singing). I'm glad I saw it, but I think that's a ridiculous amount of money.

Since you're self confessed new to theater, here's a tip. Don't buy from brokers, like SeatGeek, StubHub or Broadway.com. Telecharge and Ticketmaster are the way to go, and discounts are often available.

So in summary, don't pay $221. You don't need to, either.

neon, you are confounding three very different animals.

Seatgeek is an aggregator of secondary market ticket sites. This mostly consists of brokers or disguised brokers. They do no direct sell.

Stubhub is a marketplace. The sell tickets from anyone who lists there, which could be a principal, an individual or a broker/disguised broker.

Only Broadway.com is a broker.

It is ridiculous to tell someone to only use telecharge/TM, because (a) they may have no seats and (b) the price may be cheaper on stubhub or on a site linked through seatgeek. Avoiding Broadway.com is invariably the right advice.

At LCT there are often seats available near the performance date. This is because of both house seats and member seat asides. Some people may not want to wait, because they need to lock in seats within a narrow time frame. This may lead to overpaying. There are also people who want quality seats and may find that what the box office has are inferior locations. It all comes down to what someone wants/needs, and what they are willing to pay.

I adore Patti as much as anyone can be adored.

I had a crush on my straight freshman year college roommate, so for Christmas I got us tickets to see Anything Goes during winter break. I put us up in a suite at the Hotel Dorset. I was gonna loose my virginity that night!

Well, THAT didn't happen. But seeing Patti in Anything Goes was even better. It was a revelation, I was captivated from the second she walked out on stage. I was 18 and had never experienced anything like it. So I consider THAT to be my first "gay experience".

I've seen Patti many times since then. At the Geffen Playhouse, Hollywood Bowl, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Santa Monica College, Ahmanson, Gypsy and Sweeney Todd.

Would I pay $221 to see her in a non-musical? I suppose, if I had it and it was the only option.

She getting great reviews for this show.

Be very careful searching the web for any kind of tickets. There are many traps for the unsuspecting and trustful. If possible always search for a discount code first, print it, then buy from the box office whenever you can. This is an off Broadway show and should never cost that much.
