Not much more than a backdrop and Olivia Newton John singing "Xanadu."
And I honestly couldn't be more excited.

I love how most theatre websites (except Playbill) don't have XANADU listed as an upcoming show...as if they still don't believe it's happening.

They're playing this at the Helen Hayes Theatre?
Isn't that a small(ish) venue?

Posted: 3/16/07 at 2:34pmI am so there this summer. This show will be a hoot. I don't care if the critics love it or not. Critics hated the film Xanadu and I adore that movie and the soundtrack. The cast is going to be great. I'm sending this production lots of positive energy. I cannot wait. It's a perfect summer show.

I registered and have every intention of seeing it this summer (if it is indeed running).
I wonder if they will do the percussion roller-chant and nightclub medley.
Everyone...stomp your skates, clap your hands, cross your arms over head and yell, "XANADU!"

The music for the show is taken from the film. The film itself was not big at the box office but the soundtrack was a top seller. Electric Light Orchestra and Olivia Newton John were hot back then.

Ooooh, Mister Matt, I'd totally forgotten about that sequence and I love it! I love how it progressively goes from them shouting "Xanadu" to Olivia Newton-John singing the title song. I definitely hope that part is included!

Does anyone know what role Jen Cody has? And if it is a role? I love seeing her in the ensemble of any show, and I'm glad that the girl is constantly working, but I want to see her in a featured role at some point. She was the cutest Poopsie in THE PJ GAME.
(sigh)
I adore her probably more than Gino.

wow whatta tag line:
"a place where broadway never dared to go"
they should have added:
"...until now"
i'm not sure about this one. the music is catchy. but the story is minimal at best. i seriously think it's gonna tank.

Posted: 3/17/07 at 9:55amthe movie story may be minimal - but this isn't the movie... the book to this, as I understand it, is quite different

You beat me to it Dark Angel, "A place where broadway never dared to go".
What does that mean?

it's a play on lyrics from the song "xanadu"
A place - where nobody dared to go.. they call it xanadu

Craig, is it wrong that I just pictured you singing that at the top of your lungs?
...while spinning?
...on roller skates?
