Oh! Why did I think it was a play...
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I highly doubt Jane is screaming...she's safe and soundly at home enjoying her 30 ROCK paycheck and almost ready to reprise her star turn as Miss Adelaide in GUYS & DOLLS. Actually, if rumors are true Butler and Krakowski may end up be each other's competition at the Tonys come June.
I know it's WAY too early to predict but I wouldn't be surprised if Jenna Russell took home the Tony. It looks like Butler will garner nod. though, she received glowing reviews, good for her.

Unless someone gives a better performance this season, Jenna Russell has got the Tony. Not an improvement on Bernadette, but pretty damned close.

Well, now jv that just confuses me. Cause if Bernadette didn't win the Tony for originating the role, and Jenna is in your opinion not an improvement on Bernadette, what foundation do you have to say that she "has the Tony"? I think it's way too soon to tell. There are going to be many strong female performances this year.

Well, in my opinion, Peters deserved the award for Dot so I'd be happy to see Russell take it for the same role.

Getting back on topic - congrats to the cast, crew, and production team! Those great noticed are, in my opinion, richly deserved!

I'm still waiting for the Post review. Can't wait to see Barnes rip it to pieces and look like an idiot.

I might go to tomorrow's matinee. Well, I want to, but I think my friends would rather see the Harry Potter movie.

wow, the creatives and cast must be partying their asses off tonight. I would never have believed it, but they pulled it off. Good for them for believing this could work. The surprise hit of the new season!

And there it is folks!! Just as I predicted. Clive Barnes from the Post gives it 1 out of 4 stars. Also, he titles his review "XANADON'T". How clever, to use the same play on words that spawned the title of the musical "Zanna, Don't!" is probably the most unoriginal thing he could come up with at his old age.

My personal favorite:
"The movie, which I have never seen, and doubtless ever will, has its adherents, who are apparently stuck on the fascinations of its sheer atrocity. ... The story is loosely based on the original screenplay, which itself was even more loosely based on an earlier Rita Hayworth movie, “Down to Earth.”"
If you haven't seen the movie, Clive, don't comment on it in comparison.
"The performers - all having to keep their tongues in their cheeks for so long it must give them earaches - do well, particularly the ultra-charming Jackson."
That's a pretty bold statement considering they have all been quoted several times saying they absolutely love the show.
"David Gallo’s settings and David Zinn’s costumes are cute, while Christopher Ashley’s staging is precisely what you would expect from a man who claims to have seen the original movie 148 times."
That's just insulting. The comment about Christopher Ashley is just plain rude. Too bad, everyone else liked it.

NY Daily News is mostly positive:
"In this story of a muse, the moment is eye and ear candy that's delightfully inspired."
Also, I love that Curtis gets another shout out for his brilliant tap dancing.

They lost a big demographic from that Post review...the demographic being people that ride the subway in the morning. It's much easier to hold the post then the times...and much cheaper. Too bad. hahha

The Daily News is the same size though. And I've seen more people reading that than the Post. I think they'll balance each other out. :)

DrVincento2 - Actually, it's not the Post that's popular on the train anymore, it's AM New York and the other free papers, all of which gave the show good reviews, as well.

Reading all the reviews, I'll admit it: I was clearly wrong about this project. Best of luck to them, and I hope they run (or skate) as long as possible.
