Nothing mean spirited meant at all!
It was a nod to how well Cheyenne plays the DUMB guy so well!
I never thought it was, mominator.
He does play dumb very well. :)
is gay marriage legal in the states yet like it is here in the UK because i think i want to marry Jackson (he doesnt know this yet lol)
Depends on what state you are in. Massachusetts it is legal and Vermont has Civil Unions.
ok so me and Jackson will move to vermont ,now all i have to do is meet him (Insert evil laugh)
I'd pay money to see songanddanceman in a wrestling match between him and Cheyenne's partner.
I hate to say it, but the Times review makes me want to see the show.
Clumsydude Nooooooooooooooooooooooo why does he have a partner (sobs) though i do wrestle and have for a few years
Ding Ding round 1 lol
"Clumsydude Nooooooooooooooooooooooo why does he have a partner (sobs) though i do wrestle and have for a few years"
I'd be there with popcorn and a camera.
I'm sorry, songanddanceman.
Have you guys seen the clip of him singing with Jai from Queer Eye? If not use the search and type in Cheyenne's Sexy Clip"

I'm thrilled for the mostly positive reviews! And it makes me wonder...whatever happened to HamletWasBipolar? No doubt, he's thrilled with the reviews as well, though he hasn't been around in a while. I didn't see him accepting a Tony last month, so I can only assume he's on a cruise ship with Albee, Kushner, McNally and Fierstein. Don't drop the soap!
I don't wish any show ill will, but I'm a little depressed and annoyed that it seems to be thriving in these reviews on the basic, understood fact that it's "in" on its own crumminess.
Maybe ALL new musicals should start out with a sly curtain speech saying, "We know we suck, we know this is complete trash... and we don't care! And neither do you! Now, on with the show!"

Ha! So personable, that one.
I'm kind of with B12B on this. I've not seen the show and I'm sure it's an enjoyable enough romp, but ninety minutes of self-referential winkiness at Broadway prices just doesn't appeal to me, especially when I've been to plenty of small theatres that do live versions of sh*tty movies at a fraction of the price.

See, I don't agree that the show is "in on its own crumminess." (And I'm quoting that from your post, best12bars, but, this is really a response to a sentiment I've seen a lot of people stating)
I think it's generally understood that the source material/movie is crummy, but, I'd be really surprised if anybody involved with this production would actually say that they think they're doing a bad show (even a 'so bad it's good' show).
Yeah, it's self-referential and tongue in cheek and definitely winks at the audience, but, I don't think Douglas Carter Beane would say he's written a bad book... and all I've heard people say about the music is how much they love it and how it was the one great thing about the movie.
I can concede that everyone's definition of "bad" is different, but, I really don't think this is going for "so bad it's good"... I think it's going for and, in my opinion, hitting the target with let's make people laugh, let's give them good performances of good songs and let's have fun.
So I was pissed this morning, and just wanted to mention that with the help of Jaystarr (though he doesn't know it until now), I was able to get the mention of Xanadu on tvguide.com's news page went from only mentioning the two negative reviews to now say "primarily positive"!!!

USA Today 2 stars out of four:
Writers and producers seeking to lure casual theatergoers with familiar screen properties usually choose popular or cult favorites. But Xanadu, the 1980 Olivia Newton-John vehicle about a Greek muse who inspires an artist to build a roller-disco rink, was a critical and commercial flop. The only reason to revisit it, clearly, was to send up both the movie and the pop culture surrounding it.
That's not a bad formula for a 10-minute comedy skit, perhaps. But for a production charging $100 for orchestra seats, it's pretty thin.
Even by the low standards set by recent musical theater outings such as Legally Blonde, The Wedding Singer and High Fidelity, Xanadu is a cheap, patronizing goof. Douglas Carter Beane's script revels in obvious jokes, but he and director Christopher Ashley face a fundamental problem in trying to reduce their source material to sheer camp: Whatever its failings, the original Xanadu featured irresistibly savvy, sometimes gorgeous pop music by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar.
'Xanadu': A flop on screen, a waste on stage
NY Mag review: http://nymag.com/arts/theater/reviews/34720/
Jeremy McCarter didn't like it.
"The show’s a comedy that didn’t give me many laughs—at least, not beyond the overarching, somewhat bitter one about what’s happened to the climate of New York theater. Thanks to Xanadu and the forthcoming Grease, we’re living in a world where the leading lady of Broadway is Olivia Newton-John."
