Thank you, PJ ...and your eloquent posts and praise for the show means a lot to me and even more to YANK!s creators and cast. I'm so happy it has touched you (and so many people here) the way it has affected me!

I am so confused why some think this can't fill a bigger venue. If anything, I think it would only benefit from some room to play in, and expanded scenic design.

I would LOVE for this to happen!

Saw the show tonight for the first time and loved it! The theater director (or whoever he was) made the annoucement before the start of the show about it transferring to Broadway next year. I found the show irrisitably sweet, charming, tender and moving. Steggert was perfection! I hope that they build and expand on what I saw tonight for its Broadway run. As much as I enjoyed it, it needs some punching up for Broadway. I want better sets and lighting, a bigger ensemble, bigger production numbers, more nudity and real showers! I'll be eager to see how the show evolves into a big, fat, bonafide Broadway hit!

Yank. One of the best shows I've seen in along time. Gorgeous music, great dancing and NOT based on pop music. I've seen it 3 times
already and have tickets for closing night. That being said I think It will bomb on Broadway although I hope wrong. Once the initial rush ends I don't know if you will get tons of middle America tourists going to see what has already been labeled a gay love story . I was hoping for a larger off broadway venue.

To the person who said critics disliked it? Not
sure what you were reading/watching, but it got rave reviews. And the person wanting frontal nudity. It had it, they took it out to make it
a bit more palatable for folks that don't want to see penises, plus it's not really needed for the scene

The critics didn't even like it that much to begin with.

Where did you get that idea?

Reviews from opening night were as follows:
5- Raves
8- Positive
2- Mixed
0- Negative
0- Pans

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

RE: Critic's reactions. As I recall, the NYT wasn't any kind of rave, just sort of fair-to-middling. Otherwise, I think it's gotten generally positive notices, ranging from good to down and out raves. One advantage to this (and, no, I haven't seen the show yet -- going this Saturday) is that they're going to have the time to make improvements on what is already a very promising show.

Not to mention that a third-string critic reviewed it for The Times. So it's anyone's guess what Brantley or Isherwood might say about it. But I have a feeling it will be to both of their likings, whichever ends up taking it.

Brantley deemed Mr. Steggert a star in the making (paraphrasing) in his assessment of the RAGTIME revival, and Isherwood rarely puts down a well-intentioned gay-themed show.

Frankly, I think it deserves the Pulitzer.

One of the Yank! cast is the new Gypsy of the Month on BWW:

Jerby, I completely agree. It fully fits within the qualifications as a Pulitzer contender, and I hope it is not overlooked.

I'm all for full frontal nudity. I nominate Bobby.

I am so devastated I missed this when I was in NY! (I didn't realise it was 'on').

It seems like such a good and original show - I wonder if Bobby's Tony exposure will help the show transfer. Though I guess maybe they should learn from RAGTIME, FINIANS, and N2N, and wait closer till the Tony's next year.

I'm guessing that we are going to see fewer and fewer fall openings as time goes on...which is sad for us.

Somehow, I never saw this initial announcement -- but am happy to get another chance to finally see this. Loving Bobby Steggart and wish him the best!

Some more info!

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/139382-EXCLUSIVE-Tony-Nominee-Steggert-Committed-to-Broadway-Run-of-Yank-in-2011

Unsurprisingly, they might have taken a lesson from RAGTIME and FINIAN, (and the success of N2N), and decided to open much close to the Tonys.

And as the URL suggests Steggert is also 'committed'.
