Makes sense to me. It was really uncomfortable watching the Dodgers win the World Series in Yankee Stadium and then Yankees' iconic song starts playing. Brutal, honestly. Save it for the wins.

The article says that the Liza version was used "occasionally" after losses but from personal knowledge it was always played for a not-insignificant period of time after a loss. I don't know what specifically brought it to an end (it was obviously offensive), but there were rumors at the time.
