...I can't stop listening to this song. It's amazing. Those of you who have heard it, what do you think?
I have The Singers Musical Theatre Anthology sheet music book, and this song is in it, and I want to sing it so badly. Unfortunately, those strong high F's are just out of my range. But it's on my waiting list so someday I'll hopefully be able to sing it.
The song is so passionate and powerful. For those who have seen Side Show, what does the other twin do during songs like these? The character is singing to one of the girls, and she sings back. So the other girl just had to stay in react?

I Will Never leave you gets me for some reason........
same with the end of act one
Norm Lewis does a great job singing on the cast recording.
If I could perfect this song, it would be GREAT audition material. The song offers an impressive display of range and acting ability, that is, if you're any good.
If I recall, she is highlighted & you do not see the other girel. Norm Lewis sings the hell out of the song. Sideshow is one of my favorite cast albums
What is your icon, broadwayguy2?
Hm, highlighting the one girl is a clever enough idea. Didn't think of that.

Norm Lewis has a voice like velvet! *swoon* He could sing to me anytime!
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
I love both of those, You Should Be Loved as well as Who Will Love Me As I Am... I also get a little teary for I Will Never Leave You.
I love when it gets higher at the end. Especially in the end. "In the way I love YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!"
Yup, you can truly feel the character's angst and hurt in the emotional delivery of that song. Norm Lewis is amazing.
I can't stop listening to it!
"You Should Be Loved" is what I call 'the good part' of 'Side Show.'
What's the bad part?
Do you really want to lob one over the plate like that?
Actually, now that I think of it, didn't you mention some stuff in that thread a little while back about Side Show?
In the LA version - Daisy is just looking off to the side, the spotlight isn't on her, but we do notice her. I love the song too - Norm Lewis has an amazing voice! I wish I had seen him on stage - though the Jake I saw in LA was pretty good too (David Jennings).

Emily (who played Daisy) just looked *pissed* during that number. Just rejected and unwanted... jealous really. Violet has two guys confessing their love to her, meanwhile Daisy's guy is too pigheaded to admit he's in love with a 'freak'.
Actually, years ago at a concert they did together at the China Club... Alice did this GREAT impression of Emily during that number. It was pretty funny. Alice is strange.
Norm gives me shivers. Has anyone seen or does anyone have the video where Norm choked up at the end of the song and couldn't sing the note on "You"... so instead he breaks and screams, "VIOLET!!!!!!! VIOLET!!!! Vii-ooo-leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!" It is the funniest **** in the world.
I love Norm.

yes box office john!!! It is too funny you mention that part. Alice Ripley is absolutely amazing on that part. I can't believe she belts that high.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Emily and Alice weren't on stage at that point. There's a little dialogue break in the song, and Daisy and Violet leave to go with Terry and Buddy... and Jake finishes the song. So, you don't see anyone's reaction. I know it amuses Emily... I can only imagine what their reactions were backstage. It's really quite funny... it actually was a really good save and a great acting choice, but funny all the same. He was so into it... it's comical. Woo Norm!

Daisy - - I was at the China Club concert also - the one that started sooooooo late?!
I remember Alice's impression - quite funny. And when I saw SIDE SHOW, Norm Lewis did that too... so either we were in the audience on the same night or he did that often. I thought he cracked and just threw in a "VIOOOLEEET!"... I dunno.
But to the original question, I thought that there were more people onstage than just the twins and Jake.
Hmmmmmm, (racking my brain, but still nothing).....

There were chorus members that came in at the end of the number!
Yes, that concert started SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO late! And then I stayed afterwards and I didn't end up getting out of there until like 1am?! It was unbelievable! A great concert all the same.
The impressions were fun... Emily and Alice are crazy. :) Craaaaaaazy.

I think the impressions they do of Jennifer Holiday and Julie Andrews on the DUETS album are a hoot.

The impressions are great, but I actually prefer the West Side Story ditty on Unsuspecting Hearts. I remember the first time I listened to that... my side hurt from laughing so hard and all I could say was, "Whoa... weeeeirdos."
Yay for weird people.
