Surprised there isn't a thread on this yet. http://www.theatermania.com/off-broadway/news/youre-a-good-man-charlie-brown_76300.html
And the revival is to feature real children playing the kids, which will be cute but I think lose a lot of what made the original witty and appealing.

Was somewhat disappointed to see this... would have loved to see Lesli Margherita as Lucy. But I'm sure the kids will be great.
I like this show a lot. It was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. I prefer the simplistic original 1967 version of the show. I had the Original Television Cast Album from the 1973 Hallmark Hall of Fame that starred Wendell Burton as Charlie Brown, Barry Livingston as Linus and Bill Hinnant as Snoopy.
Sadly that version has not been re-released in any form.

I think I'd actually like seeing this with kids.
In recent years I have worked on a number of "junior" versions of Broadway shows with elementary students, including Seussical. And watching kids portray Horton and Jojo, singing "Alone in the Universe," is so darned precious, it gets me every time. I couldn't help but think that seeing adults do it wouldn't have the same impact on me now that I've seen kids do it.
I'm thinking I might have the same reaction with Charlie Brown.
I sensed a revival with the 54 Below concert.
Anyway, I actually just saw the new movie (the movie literally just ended) and the kid actors were great. I think YAGMCB makes a little more sense with child actors to really capture the innocence

its amazing how excited and disappointed i am at the prospect of this, i love the show, but not the idea of actually kids.
When I started this thread, I hadn't realized they mentioned it was all kids. What a bummer. I would have loved Lesli Margherita as Lucy paired with Annaleigh Ashford as Sally. But I'm sure.....this is fine, too.
I wish they'd get rid of the Lippa stuff, but I'm excited to finally see this show live.
The recent Peanuts movie was adorable.

I'm sure this will be very cute and endearing, and lord knows today's Broadway kids are talented as all get-out... But it just doesn't interest me one bit.

I hope so too. The new material never fit in with the tone of the show.
Eh.
My girlfriend is a huge Peanuts fan so we went to see this last night. I've had tdf for around 6 years now and never had an issue with the box office not having tickets for me but that should have been an omen that tdf was trying to do me a favor. I thought the show was absolutely awful. She didn't like it either and she loves everything Peanuts. I'm a casual fan and enjoyed the last movie. I will say that I thought the kids who played Snoopy and Lucy were good but they looked older then the rest of the cast so maybe that might have had something to do with it. I found the kid who played Charlie Brown to be completely unlikeable and I never found myself once wanting to root for him.
I thought some of the staging decisions were distracting. This theatre is so small but they decided to have the cast run up and down the aisle several times throughout the show and then out the door which you could hear open and close loudly.
We never got to see this show when it was on Broadway so this was the first time seeing it on stage. At some point I would like to see it with an adult cast to see if I would enjoy it more.
If you were on the fence about seeing this then definitely skip it.
Is there a Charlie understudy on since Joshua Colley is doing The Little Mermaid concert in LA?

I saw this too and have to say it was completely misguided and one of the worst things I've seen at the York (and I've seen my share of rough Muftis there, believe me).
The NY Times pan was dead on. The material simply doesn't work with children- or at least these children specifically- but it loses a lot when not performed by adults. Not only did the music completely overwhelm them, especially during Beethoven Day and Suppertime, but the book scenes (such as they are) were completely of humor or even understanding where the humor lied. It's funny to watch a 40 year old man suck his thumb as Linus; at 10 it's gone past cute and entered cloying territory.
I basically know the score by heart and was ready to jump up there to help the kids out. This was extremely rough viewing. It's not fun to watch kids not succeed on stage. You've got to blame Jim Morgan for proceeding with this foolhardy decision to cast kids in the roles and daring to sell full price tickets to this debacle.
I gotta say that I just saw a video clip of the show and it seemed very clear that there is a problem with the direction. I think that children could have been cast and could've given deeply layered and funny performances, but it seems clear to me that this director couldn't get it out of them.
I saw this show. I love Joshua Colley and I think he has an amazing voice but he kinda seemed sick when I saw the show. Also I couldn't hear anything Aiden Gemme was saying or singing. I did really like Linus's song though.

Yikes, this truly is bad, in a "Why did my friend bring me to her elementary school son's school musical?" way. A youth revival of this show could work... but these kids are way too young. They can't handle the (surprisingly difficult) score, and were clearly not helped by the clunky direction ( it seems like they were given a lot of line readings as opposed to actual direction).
