Glad to see another live production, but Disney seriously chose YF?? That's so random

Here's to hoping.

Well, she ADORES Madeline Kahn, and has already taken on one of her roles (on the twentieth century). I could see it.

The title,Young Frankenstein, is well-known because of the movie. Attracting an audience is obviously one objective With this one. I’ll bet they will emphasize the comedy, eliminate some of the numbers. Won’t be surprised if there are a few new numbers. I never saw the show, so I will look forward to it.
Better musicals? Sure. But there are ultimately a limited number of shows that John Q Public will turn on. Mel Brooks? Absolutely (IMO).
Question. Why if it was so bad did you see it again ? Why than is this being revisited for TV?
I disliked the majority of the changes made for the West End production. Mostly cutting “The Happiest Town” and especially “Life, Life.” The melody for that was haunting. I’d like to see those songs put back.
Per Variety:
ABC’s live (or semi-live) musical adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” made a splash in the TV ratings on Tuesday night.
The show scored a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 and just under 9 million total viewers, solid numbers for a live TV musical. For comparison, Fox’s “Rent” live musical event only drew a 1.4 rating and 3.4 million total viewers back in January, and NBC’s “Jesus Christ Superstar Live” from 2018 drew slightly more viewers at a touch over 9 million, but a smaller rating at a 1.7. Last night’s performance featuring Auli’i Cravalho, Shaggy and Queen Latifah among others was the highest-rated made-for-TV musical on any network in almost four years (since Fox’s “Grease” aired in Jan. 2016).
So Young Frankenstein is kinda putting a big toe back in the water. Well known enough to acquire viewers w/out dealing w legions of fans who will tell them how wrong they got it. Songs that r unfamiliar for the most part but lots of puns and slapstick to sell to middle of the road/middle America.

I wonder if they will get Zachary Levi; he has a history with Disney and the show. Also, it'd be interesting if they were to bring in Cloris Leachman since she was in rehearsals to go into the broadway production but then it announced it was closing.

Well, she was 82 when they tried that (because of her unexpected popularity on DANCING WITH THE STARS), and now she’s 93...

This will be a bit of a risk but with Mel's name attached to it, and 'theater - TV' actors attached (Levi, Mullally, Martin) I think this could be one of the higher rated Live Musicals. October would be a great month to air it. Waiting to see how this plays out...
I actually really enjoyed the London production, with the cuts, and actually found myself laughing a bit more then the folks around me. The timing and jokes were spot on
I bet they'll just air the movie with live performances thrown in like they did with Little Mermaid.

Except the Disney film IS a musical while YF is not and the film would have to be peculiarly cut to accommodate live songs.
Also Kristen did the reading for the show and was going to do it on Broadway but had to choose between YF and 'pushing daisies' and chose the later. I could totally see her play Elizabeth.
