I absolutely LOVE Mel Brooks, and I haven't gotten to see Young Frankenstein on Broadway yet! I have seen the Producers, and it was FANTASTIC! However, I liked Young Frankenstein the movie better.... So i just wanted to know which one on Broadway you liked better? And which movie you liked better? I MUST SEE YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN

Funnily enough, I liked YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN the movie better than the move of THE PRODUCERS but I liked THE PRODUCERS: THE MUSICAL a lot more than I liked YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN: THE MUSICAL.

And YF is not a terrible show...mostly everyone on here hates it because Brooks is behind it. It was one of the better musicals of last season...although that's not really saying much.

You really can't have too much Gene Wilder, but I liked The Producers a little bit more.

As for the shows, The Producers by a wide, wide margin. Not even close. I'd watch Sutton Foster sing the phone book and Young Frankenstein made me want to kill myself.

I agree with you on every word there. Thats exactly how I've felt about the two movies the last 30 odd years and now how I feel about the two shows.
I can watch 'Young Frankenstein' the movie over and over again whereas 'The producers' just isn't that funny.
'The Producers' on stage is brilliantly executed but, also, 'Young Frankenstein is far from being a bad musical- i really enjoyed most of it! It looks stunning!

I personally preferred the musical version of YF better than the producers. (at least I did when Sutton and Megan were in it)

I loved The Producers on Broadway, but Young Frankenstein is definately my favorite current Broadway show. I've seen it 10 times so far!!!

I liked the Young Frankenstein movie better than the original Producers movie. I don't know why so many people hate the musical so much, it's not that bad.

but i'm a HUGE Mel Brooks fan, so i will probably enjoy anything he comes out with.

Young Frankenstein was the worst show I have seen in my entire life.

Your enjoyment of the movie will correspond directly with your enjoyment of banal, sophomoric sexual puns.

The approach is slightly different, but I never understood that the two audiences for penile humor are middle schoolers and middle-aged Mel Brooks fans.

Actually the worst show to splat on Broadway was ironically High Fidelity ! I liked the producers better !!

I haven't seen Young Frankenstein. I really don't want to, because I don't even like the film. I actually hate every other Mel Brooks film besides The Producers.

I like Young Frankenstein the movie better than Young Frankenstein the musical. The movie leaves me in stitches every time I watch it. The musical isn't god awful, but it's basically the movie with songs. The score is okay, but most of it sounds the same. The only big stand out is the song Mel didn't write, Puttin' On The Ritz.

As far as The Producers goes, I kind of like the original movie and the musical equally. Both are funny and unique. The original movie has the fantastic pairing of Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder. The musical has catchy music with Susan Stroman's excellent direction and choreography.

If I had to pick which one I liked better, I'd say I like the Young Frankenstein movie more than The Producers movie, but I like The Producers musical better than Young Frankenstein the musical.

YF is not one of the better musicals of any season!

I think the Producers was a more well put-together show. It was definitely funnier and had a clever storyline as opposed to Young Frankenstein; however, in terms of spectacle, I think Young Frankenstein wins.

I agree with WiCkEDrOcKS and the others as to preferences between the movies and the musicals. I do give a little bit more of a nod to the Young Frankenstein musical only because after I originally saw it I thought 'it's cute and ok but I'll probably not come back'. I didn't until this past July when I took my niece. I laughed almost as hard as I had at The Producers.

I liked "The Producers" musical much better than YF, however, I did enjoy YF. I think the criticism has been harsh and not deserving.

I saw "The Producers" with Nathan and Matthew and it was by far, the best musical comedy I have ever seen. The jokes were sharp, singing and dancing great and the famous chemistry between Nathan and Matthew, especially the ad-libbing, was second to none. After they left, the show held it's own, not as good, but as good as anything on Broadway now. I don't think YF can say the same, but worth seeing at least once.

I used to like YF, the original movie, but the last two times I've seen it, it doesn't seem funny to me anymore. I never liked the original Producers movie, which is why I was so suprised that I loved the musical so much. I guess as you get older, your taste changes.

I LOVE both original movies. They probably BOTH have a spot in my all time favorites.

I really enjoyed the Producers on stage (thought the movie version was horrific) but could NOT get behind YF on stage. I found myself rolling my eyes...alot. I didn't get into it at all.

My dislike of it has no bias against Mel...I love (most of) his work.
