Well, less than 2 weeks before my Fall theater trip Nov. 15 to the 20th.
I'm going to be meeting a friend before one of my shows, and we both would like some suggestions for a tavern/restaurant that serves quality basic food (sandwiches, chicken, fish, etc.). I know those kind of restaurants are a dime a dozen in the theater district, but just wanted to hear what some favorites were of some of the people here.
Doesn't have to be anything fancy, obviously, as long as the food is great. I hope I can get some good suggestions here.

Which theater will you be going to? I like to eat right nearby. I hate plowing through crowded streets to get where I need to go.

We're meeting Wednesday evening, between two performances of Falsettos in the afternoon and Dear Evan Hansen at night. Also, I'm staying at The Michelangelo on W 51st (behind the Winter Garden and Ellen's), so I'm not too concerned about distance.

Schnipper's is a good option.
Also, I made reservations for June at The Michelangelo for my group which is coming to see Hello, Dolly! I would love to hear from you what you think of the hotel after your stay.
Much, thanks!

Can't go wrong with Hurley's. Bonus points that it's directly across the street from the Kerr.

Joe Allen. No question. Not only a finely-tuned pre-show machine with great burgers, lobster rolls, and liver & onions. Great bar. And, of course THE FLOP WALL.
Last May, I had to set a reminder to make a reservation from the middle of the Atlantic (online) because they don't accept them more than 7 days in advance.
