And how would they handle Narissa's transformation into the dragon, and the resulting fight?

Well Fantasmic is performed in a huge outdoor amphitheater that is lends itself well to the sort of special effects that are used for that show. And the climactic dragon fight utilizes not only fire and lasers, but also water. I doubt even Disney would be able to mount the same kind of pyrotechnics required for the dragon in a Broadway theater with a limited amount of space.

To the person who said Tale of Two Cities is an original show:
Tale of Two Cities was a novel written in 1859. Just so you know.

Rentaholic, you remind me of my first week working in a bookshop.
Customer: "Hello, I'm looking for the *mumblemumble* edition of 'War & Peace'."
Me: "I'm sorry, I missed that; which edition were you looking for?"
Customer: *rolls eyes frighteningly far back in his head, lets out a HUGELY condescending sigh, and pours forth scorn* "It's called 'War & PEACE', it's by Leo TOLSTOY, it's a CLASSIC."
Wow... that was three years ago and I still get angry at the memory. Good job it was when I was new to the job; later on in my career, I'd've merrily adopted my bright and happy "kill the a*hole with kindness" voice and explained how I knew who the author was, I was reading it when I was 9 years old, but if he'd be so GOOD as to explain what specific edition he was after, I'd be happy to have a look for him. Customers get irate when you try to kill them with kindness, which is exactly why I liked to do it to the most condescending a*holes who came in. ^_^

Count me in to the folks who would love to see this on stage.
It mainly relies on the fairy tale world, as opposed to animation. They could go from bright, happy, and curved designs for sets and costumes (circular towers and swirls inside things and such), and use dark, solid, stiff design aspects for New York (a lot of straight lines, stone, black and grey, etc.).
As for the ending, I'm not quite sure. Projections? Animatronics (sp)? She could turn into a beastly werewolf or something as well because youngsters would still find that scary.
As for casting, I would love to see Megan Hilty play Giselle and maybe Gavin Creel as the prince?
(Some of this may not make sense, I'm sorry)

Wait...wouldn't that completely contradict the end of the film?
That, since Giselle was in the 'real world' the musical aspect was taken away?
Hm.
