re: Thanks [title of show]

yes. [tos] inspired the ending of the play i wrote with my fellow supertosser. our plan was to kill everyone off, except the abortionist, but we still had this one character stalking around. So we made him into an evil mastermind that attempts to take the abortionist's soul, so he has to die. So the last line in our show is 'die vampire, die'. and that its [tos]'s latest impression on my life. thank you for helping us finish our play.

I second you, mc1227, and quote my hero, [tos] :

Blank Paper- But, more recently, musicals have been based on movies like My Favorite Year, Footloose, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Big, Saturday Night Fever, the Wedding Singer, the Full Monty, the Producers… (inhales) Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast, Billy Elliot, Spamalot…

JEFF-Wow! So movies make good musicals?

BLANK PAPER- Well they make musicals.

yah, i never relized how crass the original version was until seth rudetsky metioned that about the lyrics of 'Greased Lightning'. I noticed that the lyrics were changed when they did that number at Broadway On Broadway. I haven't seen the revival, so can anyone tell me if those were the real lyrics for the revival or if they just changed them for the performance

re: Best Conversation Starters at Shows?

' Are you going to eat that?' jk. Normally I just ask the person next to me( or for that matter, anyone i see) how they found out about whatever show we're at. i find it intersesting how they got word of the show. Actually, thinking back, i might have asked the guy next to me at Curtains if he was going to finish his M&Ms at the intermission.

to Disney movie-musicals are like soul-sucking drugs. Just say no and support original ideas, not recognizable commodities. and that chipmunk is just scary
re: The Last Five Years?

like TheBoyDownstairs, I heard a track from the cd once and fell madly in love. the score is amazing and the story, gorgeous. I always cry at the end of Nobody Needs to Know, even though its not one of the best points in the couple's lives, the piano part just makes me tear up. I heard A Summer In Ohio on Seth's radio show just when it was announced that Sherie Renee Scott was going into The little Mermaid and he played that song, saying it was something that she did before. If the show came
re: Bell and Bowen Eligible for Leading Actor Tony Noms

okay, keyphrase "fingers crossed". i dont expect it to win, but i'm hopin for it. and since when is 'movie-musical' good enough credentials for best musical. best musical should be awarded to the show that is portrayed in such a manor that it gives you a good feeling and makes you think more about the things you do. being a tourist attraction and having a chorus doesn't make you a winner. go ahead and be the teacher's pet and draw in the crowds that only go because "i liked the movie", i s
re: Would anyone else love for We Will Rock You to come to Broadway?
 Sep 21 2008, 05:17:15 PM
personally, i have never seen it but i love Queen, as does my sister, and im sure we'd enjoy it. Even if the book is horrible, Queen songs (4 me) can probaly save a dieing show. please don't insult me for saying that, i really do like to Queen.

I can see susan and heidi getting tony noms as well as best original score. My fingers are crossed for best musical, but any other than that would surprise me.
re: Funny Unplanned Things in a show
 Sep 21 2008, 09:32:52 AM
Last year, my school did a collection of myths and i played a pageboy in the tale of King Midas. The second night of the show (i must have gotten hit with the clumsy stick that day) i knocked the tray of fake food all over the floor, spilled a "drink" on king midas and knocked over a "rock" containing a stagelight that blinded the audiedence. Add to that the fact that i fell off the stage the day before during rehearsel, and it looks like a drunk actor in the the cast. But the audience did fi

I'm so upset about this, my two favorite shows closing on the same day, and i can get into the city and see them because of school and football games. *CURSES MARCHING BAND SCHEDULE*
