"When a show closes and you already have tickets, how long does it usually take to process a refund?"
They made their closing announcement LESS THAN FIVE HOURS AGO.
For f*cks sake. Have some respect.

I got an email 24 hours after Living on Love announced its closing for my options. I decided to exchange my tix for another show (instead of getting a refund) and it happened within a 24 hour period. Doesn't exactly answer your question about refunds but that was my experience

Roxy, I'm sorry you feel that way; I don't see the sarcasm you seem to find in what I wrote. I also go into a show hoping to be blown away by it; and pretty often i am-enough so that there is nothing I'd rather do than see a show. But all shows are not wonderful, and some are terrible; and some wonderful shows fail and some terrible shows succeed. But there are also facts to be faced, and when I saw a show should close, I am looking at the numbers: the grosses, the expenses, the advance and (slightly less clear) whether the show has a discernible path for turning itself around. And when a show comes up goose eggs on all of those criteria, I will say (reasonably, I think) that it should close.
If you don't want to interact with me any more, I'll respect that. There are a lot of people here who have less patience than I do. And whatever you decide about ships passing in the night, I hope your tests go well.
I wouldn't worry about it Hogan, you've been blocked by now.

Respect? I have never had tickets to a show that had closed prematurely. I have never had to go through this refund thing and I now am going to be buying tickets for a different show due to its closing on the same day. I was only curious so I would know when the money would show up in my account so I can go ahead and support another show. Terribly sorry to offend you but chill out. :)

Has anyone tried rush for this show lately? How early is too early to go tomorrow? The box office opens at 10.

Im sooo incredibly sad that i wont get to see it! It was the main reason for my trip from the UK to NY and typically i arrive in NY the day after it closes Actually want to cry now
It really annoys me when I read (not necessarly here) that Dr. Zhivago was doomed becuase the material was too "dark" and "gloomy" for A broadway musical. Excuse me? "Les Miz" is about an even more obscure revolution and involves a lot of deaths on stage and it's not like stuff like "Sweeny Todd" , "Cabaret" or even "Fiddler on the Roof" are "light" subjects.
It seemed more that the show tried to "cram" too mucb and it was trying to be too faithful , when they migbt have tried to be less faithful to the source material. Of course there would have been complaints about that too. The score and book just wasn't good enough IMO.
@VintageSnarker- I walked up to the box office last Saturday at 5pm and got a rush ticket for the 8pm. Front row (the stage is very high so this is not the best place to see the show, but I loved sitting there actually).
I have a weird affection for this show, like I did for Pirate Queen. I'm thinking I must have a soft spot for 'beautiful music + long historical plot.'

I went this morning. I got there close to 10. There were some people ahead of me in line (not sure if there were others who had purchased their tickets already). Some were getting rush. One woman was sadly returning tickets for later in the run (after the announced closing I mean). One guy bought full-priced tickets. I got seat D10. Hopefully I'm not going to be staring at the table for the whole show. But I'm excited!
I wonder if rush tickets will get anymore difficult to obtain as the show gets closer to closing. It's premature since I haven't seen it yet but I'm thinking about maybe going back for the last show Sunday.

How can you be thinking of seeing this once much less twice? Don't you know it is the worst piece of theater ever foisted on an audience. All the critics, media & armchair ones here, have said so. Therefore, it must be true.

Critics' constructive feedback might be of value in a show's future life: revivals, other productions, et al. While it may not be useful to a production that has already opened, it certainly isn't lacking in any utility.

As a big fan of this show, I felt vindicated by Amy Tan's unmitigated rave of the show on her Facebook page after seeing it. Tan is, to my way of thinking, the best American fiction writer of the last 75 years (and even if others disagree with me, she is still a celebrated American writer whose work will survive generations, if not centuries), and her response (which echoed mine) validated the show's value. When people say, "All the critics hated it," I can say, "But a literary genius loved it."
Now, let's hear about that cast recording . . .

I've read most of Amy Tan's books and loved them, will have to check out her fb page to read her thoughts on this show! Thanks for sharing BroadwayMouth!

I have a massive headache right now and rants about the audience that I may or may not post tomorrow (seriously, just because the show is closing it doesn't mean all theatre etiquette goes out the window. The people around you also paid for their tickets.) and critiques of the performances and staging but the short of it is... I had a fabulous time. I'm totally going again.
All kidding aside, glad you liked it.
indytallguy, I agree with you that a critic's constructive criticism is always helpful to future runs of the same show. However, I also think that they can be helpful for Broadway -- rather than close a show, there's nothing stopping the producer and director from revamping the production, or at least tweaking it.
I noticed that several critics complained that Dr. Z. seemed to channel Les Miz, rather than providing something new. This may well be part of the problem, although I don't know because I haven't seen it. Another difficulty may be that it's hard to root for either side -- Zhivago may be a poet, but he's still a wealthy Czarist who is cheating on a very sweet wife (at least in the movie). As for Strelnikov, why would we root for a violent Communist revolutionary?
I hope that we see a lot more of Tam Mutu, despite the show's closure. He has a heckuva voice, and he's certainly pleasant to look at. If Rebecca ever opens on Broadway, he'd probably be a good male lead for that show. For that matter, if Love Never Dies opens, he could always play the Phantom; he was the backup Phantom to Ramin Karimloo in the London production of LND.
I am now extremely suspicious that I would love this show.

I am not sure if it's been changed with the closing but it started out as a student rush or under 30/35. Can't remember the details...I didn't qualify.
