It's not even the stage door thing, and she was very rude to me, but how much of a diva she was to the company and crew. But in regards to the stage door, she said she wasn't allowed to take pictures but we were talking to the doorman for awhile and he said that was bull. They didn't do anything restricting her from taking pictures, she just made that up. Now with a show such as Wicked that has a huge fan base, I don't think they'd be too appreciative of her attitude at the SD after probably a lot of the great experiences they've come to expect from the actors.
also, wasn't she "not allowed" to take photos?
*whoops! nevermind. i didnt see that last post.

husk_charmer,
You're making it sound like Disney on Broadway or Disney for that matter are above Equity's rules which they are not. Equity states that when it comes to contracts they can only relate to things that have to do with the show and being at the theatre and doing the show itself. That is why a show cannot force someone to do things such as a TV promo on one of the morning news shows or stage door. That is what I am trying to say. Disney is not above equity therefor they couldn't force her or pay her to stage door. Could they encourage it and ask her that she do it. Yes, they can. But, they can't pay or force her to do it if she doesn't want to. That is why people say that they should be lucky that there are people who do sign after shows due to the fact that they aren't forced to.

she seems more like an elphaba to me.
"she said she wasn't allowed to take pictures but..."
I've been at shows before where the main stars said they couldn't take pictures. I don't see anything wrong with it if they have to get somewhere in a hurry after or are extremely exhausted. Especially if a million people want their picture. Sure, it is disappointing, but they have no obligation to you except to perform the show. She probably just said she wasn't allowed instead of going into detail about her personal life/where she had to be.
millie_dillmount, expect for the fact that this isn't the case for Van Der Pol. broadwayboy522 worked for Beauty in some form or another and worked with Van Der Pol and said that her not getting her picture taken had nothing to do with her being asked by Disney not to and that that whole story is false.
Now you are right that there are actors that just say no to that because they want to be as nice as they can while going down the stage door line. However, this isn't the case with Anneliese considering that she was rude while stage dooring Beauty.
Honestly, if Anneliese has a big head let her have one. She's young and has achieved a lot before she even turned 23. If she doesn't want to stick around after shows, she doesn't have to. At least she gave an excuse, instead of just shooting straight to her limo. I don't think her diva attitude should affect her chances of being on any show. Producers want her because she has talent, and it doesn't hurt that her name might bring an audience; not because of how she might act at the stage door.
Id love to see her in Wicked. She certainly has the chops for Glinda, but I'm sure most of us would love to see her as Elphaba
LOL. I don't think anyone wants to work with a 23 year who has that big of a ego. And I have nothing against performers who choose not to stagedoor, however if they do choose to they need to be polite and gracious about it...not rude, esp. if little children are involved. I highly doubt her name would bring that large of an audience either to WICKED, which already has a built in fan base.
I'm aware that I may sound like a broken record, for I've mentioned this on other threads. But when I met Anneliese at the stage door she was very nice to me. There was no diva attitude at all. She was also very sweet to the younger crowd as well. The whole picture thing wasn't an issue because she took pictures with everyone who asked for one, including myself. Of course, i saw her on her second performance, so she probably wasn't nearly as tired as she was when you all saw her. I get bummed out when I read about people bashing her because of her attitude because I think she is ridiculously talented. She completely stole BATB for me when I saw it.
As for the possibility of her playing Glinda, however, I am kinda surprised. Okay...not kinda...but surprised none the less! I think it's awesome that she may be doing some big stuff down the road but I pictured her as an Elphaba! But I'd definitely buy a ticket if she gets the role. If I lived in NY that is...
Bottom line is she's got a killer voice (in my opinion) and I think some acting chops. She deserves to be on the stage.
"However, this isn't the case with Anneliese considering that she was rude while stage dooring Beauty."
I'm not defending Anneliese or saying she wasn't rude, but often times I wonder how many times people come on here and say someone was rude simply because they didn't get their autograph or picture with them. Sometimes if a performer refuses to do something, it may unintentionally come off as rude.

Sometimes they may be in a real honest rush...last train to catch out of the city, airport, late night caberet and so on.
But if it happens regularly, it's not only rude to treat fans in that way, it's also, especially for a young rising actor/actress....stupid.
And I don't buy the "not allowed to take pictures" story either. Unless they're in costume or on stage or something, there's NO such prohiition.
I would like to see her in the show either way !!!!!!! I can see her in either role.
Isn't that part a little high for her, in terms of singing? Oh well, she certainly is talented, even if she supposedly is a diva and she's got a bright future ahead of her.
She has an amazing voice. I doubt it's out of her range.
I'm not sure if everyone's seen this, but here's a video of Anneliese talking about her stage-door experiences:

I think Van der Pol should Tackle Mary Poppins.

I literally laughed out loud at that interview. She rushed, did not take pictures, and ignored people at the stage door.

cracks me up that this is even a discussion. There are days when people just need to leave the theatre, get home etc...

Just leaving a theatre is one thing but she straight up gave attitude and sneered at people. I know performers don't have to sign- and if they don't, they don't. But, if they choose to sign, and at a family oriented show no less, they should have a good attitude.
Omg...that pictured scared me!
I think Elphaba would be better for her...
WishingOnlyWounds2, those are the same thoughts I have when it comes to an actor staying after and signing for fans. True that it isn't something that they have to do. But, if they choose to do it then they should at least be nice about it.
As I have said before, she was acting as if she washaving her arm twisted about the whole thing as if she was being paid to do it and it was written in her contract. As I said before in the thread, that cannot happen. Equity wouldn't allow such a thing.

We don't know how many people were in that call back and how many are talented Broadway actresses. I cannot see her playing it and i think she is way to inexperienced for it. Also isn't bad to release to the press those types of details?

I wonder how long ago that last callback was.
Snowskittle, I would guess it was very recently seeing as she hasn't been in NY a month (counting vanities rehersals) and the interview was just days ago... so who knows.
