Composer Matthew Sklar, lyricist Chad Beguelin and a librettists Beguelin and Tim Herlihy musicalize the 1998 film about a down-on-his-luck crooner.

Only thing relatively new to add to this, I think, is that David Josefsberg (of Altar Boyz fame) has been cast in the role Steve Buschemi played in the movie.

do you think the show is too small to play at the hilton? just a suggestion...
hmmm...maybe the chorus line revival could play there! :)

the Hilton/Ford Center is one of those 'cursed with flop' theatres....like the Plymouth or Longacre. The Wedding Singer seeems perfect for the Hirschfeld.

yeah!
but poor sweet charity...
anyway, that would be a good theatre!
and, okay, so:
LESTAT- palace
LION KING-minskoff
MARY POPPINS- new amsterdam
um, what other shows are coming to broadway? something will prob go to the music box theatre sometime soon...
THE WEDDING SINGER wants the Hirschfeld Theater, but SWEET CHARITY is supposedly not closing when Applegate leaves.
I'm hearing rumors that THE WEDDING SINGER is going into the Music Box Theater if the Hirschfeld doesnt clear out any time soon.

oh, how big is the music box? must be pretty small if in my life can still pay the rent and run...

In My Life, by all human standards, should be closed by now.

yeah i hope its not another brooklyn and keeps going and going and going...
Ok, again.
People need to stop suggesting the Hilton. The Hilton is NOT a Jujamcyn theatre...and as every article has stated...THE WEDDING SINGER is slated for a Jujamcyn theatre.
I know they've already put a deposit on a theatre but am not at liberty to say which one. Suffice it to say...it is not nor will it ever be the Hilton.

I think will probably got into the Hirschfeld theater when Charity closes sometime in January/Febuary. I wonder what will be next for the Hilton? Seems to big to put any of the upcoming shows, unless Tale of Two Cities nabs it.

Julia Murney & Leslie Kritzer have auditioned for this show very recently as well.
Kevin Cahoon confirmed with me that he is playing George (the Boy George character...) in the show. He said they start rehearsals the first week in December, go to Seattle for out of town tryouts in January, and previews in March if all goes according to plan.
go to the website and get on the guest list! they'll send you info
Tale of Two Cities is unlikely to nab anything at this point. They've canceled their tryout in Chicago and they just recently found a new director. It's going to be at least another season before it's ready for Broadway. My guess for Wedding Singer: another vote for Hirschfeld.
Festen is going to the Music Box.
I've heard that Sweet Charity is announcing a big star replacement for after Christina leaves, AND a move to the Hilton, clearing the Hirshfeld for Wedding Singer.

Charity can't even fill the Hirschfeld, let alone the Hilton
I wonder if Smaxie's info is true about Charity.
Very interesting.
If the rumor is correct, it's supposed to hit the papers tomorrow. Don't know who the star replacement is, but again, it's reported to be someone very famous.
Can't wait to see Wedding Singer here in January.
Smaxie, you're getting me very excited.
Lets hope there will be an annoucement tomorrow.
