re: broadway on broadway - casts to perform announced

Someone who is planning to video this or TiVo the one-hour version broadcast on WNBC-4, let me know. I'd like to see this, but will not be able to make it up to NYC for it-- sounds like lots of fun.

i went 2 years ago. my friends sister was part of the organizing team to create the event... kind of like a stagemanager type... so we got to sit at the bleachers even though we came really not too early.

I really wish we got the NY channels here in MD - they always have better programming than we do... Grr!

If anyone is planning on taping it - please keep me in mind! re: broadway on broadway - casts to perform announced

I live in CT, but about 1 hr and a half from NYC. Thankfully, I get the NY NBC channel. Can't wait to see this!

What is the earliest people arrive, and what is the best time to come if you want to be close to the stage (maybe not TOO close, but a decent view not far!)?

re: broadway on broadway - casts to perform announced

I went last year, and am planning on going again. The streets are totally packed, and you can't get crosstown. I actually snuck in around 45th street by coming from 8th avenue and going through the box office of the marriot marquis... You can hear it up through 49th street, and they broadcast it on screens all over times square, so you can see it on those if you can't get close to the stage.
I'd get there before 10 if you want a good spot within a couple blocks.

Within a couple of blocks? When do people arrive?

re: broadway on broadway - casts to perform announced

I don't know when people arrive, I was getting rush tickets to another show that day, so I got there at 10:15 and the crowd was already back to 45th/46th street. It was really hot last year too, so standing in the sun for a few hours wasn't great, and you couldn't leave to get water or go to the bathroom.

I have gone five years in a row. Two years ago, you could fry eggs on my head. I never get there early enough to sit. Last year, I think I enjoyed it the least. I had an injury to my knee and it was killing me to stand. Afterwards, we went to L'Allegria and all was well with the world.

Usually, when they televise this, some muscial numbers are cut in between for commercials, so you miss quite a lot. Not the best viewing opportunity...I've given up on watching it. It's always diasppointing.

re: broadway on broadway - casts to perform announced i was mad at last year's telecast because they missed the entire dance break in the middle of 'forget about the boy'.

re: broadway on broadway - casts to perform announced

I got there at 7am last year and was second row away from the stage. There was already a decent-sized line when I got there. I recommend getting there around 7. That's when I plan to go.

ponine: I was mad at that too! And it was the year Sutton was in it. The previous year when they showed the whole thing, Catherine did it.
