fran kranz exits china doll

Hi! So this news is a couple of months old as it turns out, but I didn't see it till tonight: Fran Kranz was set to play the only other character against Al Pacino in David Mamet's China Doll; the official word is just 'scheduling conflicts,' but in looking at Kranz's IMDB profile, this seems unlikely (nothing he has schedule comes close to rivaling Broadway with Al Pacino in a Mamet play). Has anyone heard a reason other than the officially given one as to why Fran Kranz is out of China Doll? Thanks for any info!
