I know this is a lofty idea but my ideal follies or an age approiate revival in a few years.
Hattie: Faith Prince (Many of you have commented that linda lavin was too 'hip' or 'looked to good to be hattie' and i agree plus prince would just tear down the house with broadway baby really hitting it right on home.)
Phyllis: Sherie rene scott or in about ten years laura benanti (Scott has the skills both vocally and dance wise to pull off phyllis, and her acting in the part would wow the audience.)
Stella Deems: Heather Headley (Headley would convey the neccessary bitterness of the jilted former follies girl with the cut short career, her whos that woman would really wow the audience and she mit bring some people to the theater.)
Ben: Marc Kudisch (Kubisch has the neccessary lower range and would be able to convery the self centered attitude approiatly as well generally singing the **** out of the score.)
Emily Whitman: Megan mullally (I don't know if she would accept a small role as this but given her voices lack of extreme strength she couldn't handle a bigger role. But she has done more dance heavy shows and could handle this part, plus her voice would fit perfectly in the part.)
Buddy: In ten or twenty years christopher fitzgerlad, but for right now i think the pick would be norbert leo butz.
Sally: (The hardest role to cast) For now my vote goes to marin mazzie who has proved she is a great actress and could handle the singing and acting called for. In a future revival ten or twenty years from now leann larkin.
Carlotta: How about donna murphy i know she's not as famous as most of the women who've gotten to sing the song but she would knock it out of the park and still play a convincing carlotta, who isn't so old it's laughable to hear about her twenty year old boyfriend. And people wanting and getting 'the works' from. Another idea Linda Eder anyone?
