Just wondering...how are celebs on the west coast? I mean hollywood actors. I think broadway actors are quite down to earth and appreciate a level of admiration that fans represent. I mean, in hollywood, they hide themselves behind 10 foot fenses, within acres and acres of land, no neighbors for miles on end...I understand it's a means for privacy, but that is also a total alienation from society to a certain degree. Am I wrong?

I know we all have attitudes and differ in personality, but I think it's a pleasant gesture for them to sign a playbill or pose for a photo. Taken into consideration the physical strain of performing and everything surrounding that, I would most likely think anyone who is "mean" at the stage door just had a bad day. Also, everyone's patience runs thin as they get older!!

And following them around in cars, and snapping pictures of them with their kids or trying on clothes, which is just plain creepy...

As a west coaster, here's my perspective. Broadway people in general are much more appreciative of the attention, but not so tired of getting SO much attention because more often than not, unless you are nathan lane or someone crossing over from film/tv to theater, once you leave the stage door or go out of town, MUCH fewer people recognize you or hassle you. Wherever Oprah goes, she's Oprah. Same with P Diddy, Ashton, blah blah blah. They tend to get jaded, though some always remain appreciative. I think it has to do with the fact that celebs in LA get hounded EVERYWHERE THEY GO, not just at the stage door. So they are less accepting of the press at times. At least that's what i think. Depends on the approaching person as well.

So here's my story. Since I live close to Beverly Hills, I don't do the star crazy oogling thing. You just tend to spot a person and go oh look, what is he/she wearing? Cool. And move on. (I go much more fanatic over a Broadway person, more respect for the 8 shows a week thing I suppose). But I was at Anastasia's in Beverly Hills waiting to get my eyebrows done (I know, don't laugh but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do), and Faith Hill sat next to me as she waited for her appointment. FAITH HILL! I had this pewter keychain on my keys that says "Faith" that i actually got from her website because I liked the double meaning and I'd used it for years. I couldn't resist and turned to her and said, I'm really sorry to bother you but I just had to show you this. She and her friend recognized the keychain and went OH LOOK! and I proceeded to tell her how much I love her music. She was so nice and started to chat that I got completely tongue tied and made a fool out of myself! She was very appreciative though and a class act.

ElphieZ-I couldn't agree more..I absolutely hate hearing about Broadway people with attitudes b/c 10 feet away from the stage door no one recognizes them (unless you are Harvey, Nathan etc.). I was absolutely floored earlier this year when I met 2 huge celebrities with no diva type attitude even though literally as we spoke you could see the crowds of people rushing over and screaming and flashes starting to go off, then I observed a stage door of a certain show and witnessed the terrible terrible attitude and disrespect for fans that a certain performer had. Vertainly an eye-opening experience, maybe all the drama queens are on the stage??
