I am excited that patti lupone is in gypsy but i am also confused. I always thought that arthur laurents never wanted patti to be in new york production of gypsy. what changed his mind or was the rumor even true?

About 2 years ago, Patti LuPone left her husband for Arthur Laurents and this whole GYPSY bit starting happening almost immediately -- Ravinia Festival, then City Center and now Broadway.

Many have questioned La LuPone's motives as Mr. Laurents is quite up there in age and La LuPone has been married to her husband for many years.

Most think after the new Broadway run, La LuPone will terminate all ties with Laurents and return to her husband.

We'll see what happens WHEN it happens.

I don't think they'll split...rumor has it that there are heavy make out sessions backstage at the St. James, and that she is very attracted to his great looks.

It has also been reported that Patti, miraculously, is pregnant. She plans to remain with "Gypsy" until the bitter end, most likely giving birth to her baby onstge during the final "FOR ME" of "Rose's Turn."

does this mean Mr. LuPone is open for business? or is he involved with Lenora Nemetz now?

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

He, very mysteriously, allegedly overdosed on heroin two days before Patti and Arthur got involved.

As much as I adore the ground Patti walks on, this thread is one of the funniest things EVER.
