Auuuugh.....I don't know if I can WAIT three more weeks!
Thanks to all taking the time to give us your thoughts!
I saw the show last night with my significant other (who, despite his initial refusal to see the show is now a fan) and after seeing it at 2nd Stage and then many times at Arena, I am so happy that it is now on Broadway. The changes were for the most part very effective, though minimal. I did not like the lyric changes to Just Another Day because I thought the previous lyrics fit the Natalie character better (though these ones do fit), but I will get used to them. Loved the staging of Didn't I See this Movie though. Brilliant.
All in all a powerful production. The audience was very into it. I hope they work the sound level a bit better though. In mid-orchestra, I felt it was over-miked and very unnatural. You could tell it was coming from the sound board. In any case, so nice to see Alice back on Broadway after all this time. I still think she gives the best performance on the boards, and its only the 2nd preview.
SPOILERS
One of the only cuts I thought they needed to make after seeing the first preview was the moment in which Gabe appears in his underwear in the bathroom during "Just Another Day."
That was the only time he existed without being in direct proportion to Diana's mind and the impact he has on it. I understand that the big "reveal" about him doesn't occur until later, but once that information becomes available, that moment makes no sense.
If that change is made, I'd consider the show as close to perfect as it can get in the allotted time.
I think it made sense for him to appear that way.... Everyone is getting ready for their day, so in Diana's mind Gabe would be, too.
