Cherry Jones - a couple of days after winning her Tony, heading towards the theatre for a matinee performance of Doubt.
Stephanie D'Abruzzo - twice in one day. The first time on 8th Avenue, listening to her iPod, heading towards the Golden Theatre. Then about 3 hours later on broadway walking past McDonald's. And I'd just seen her perform in Avenue Q...

Hal Sparks, by the TKTS booth. I almost shat myself.

Not really "random" but I was in line behind Michael Musto at WS, trying to get to my seat.

Kevin Cahoon, Chris Seber, John Jellison, and John Jeffrey Martin, more than once, on the streets of NYC.

Tim Curry walking down 44th.

Patty Deutsch (sp?) at a restaurant in Beverly Hills.

Chris Parnell, outside the HAIR benefit, on his cell phone.

Donald Trump (although I don't really think he's a "star") at a Bon Jovi/Eve 6/Sugar Ray concert.

In the audience at shows I've attended: Sebastian Bach (sat behind him), Dee Snyder, Kelly Ripa, Faith Ford, Yoko Ono (lol), Kim Zimmer, Anthony Rapp.

I won't list all my weird star spottings, but a few months ago, I was at "The Light in the Piazza", and during intermission, I realized that Brian Boitano was seated directly behind us.

I couldn't stop laughing the rest of the show, because I had that stupid South Park song stuck in my head...

When I was waiting for the Spelling Bee lotto to start, I was like the only one there. I was waiting under the parking garage thing, and Patrick Wilson just walks by me with a couple of friends. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to interrupt him, but I smiled at him and he gave me this huge smile back. It was cute.

I saw Sutton Foster and Christian Borle yesterday while I was out on a run for work, and I saw Lauren Ambrose last week. That's 3 in the spanse of about a week, and I never see anybody!

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

This is going to sound weird because they all involve Barrett Foa but...

I took my friend to see Avenue Q and as we were walking to the theater, he was walking besides us so we said hi and intorduced ourselves. After the show, we went to the stage door and he commented on how he saw us in the audience having a great time. We took pictures, signed autographs, thanked him and left to the subway on 42nd. When we got there he was waiting there talking on his cell phone. He actually stopped talking and joked that we shouldn't follow him around.

Fast foward to two weeks ago. I took a group of students from where I go to school to see The Wedding Singer. I was hugnry so I walked into Kodama to get something. As I was walking in, I look up and Barrett was right there walking out. He looked at me and did a double take and said hi and asked how I was doing ect...

-Jerry Mitchell waiting outside Sweeney Todd. I spoke to him and he was actually seeing Brooke Sheilds in Chicago but wanted to wait on the other side of the street.

-Sondheim walking around at Lincoln Center for Bernadette's concert.

-Alexander Gemignani walking to the Sweeney Todd matinee
-Ben Magnuson walking to an evening performance of Sweeney Todd
-Harvey Fierstein walking to Fiddler, I almost bumped into him.

mateo, I don't know how you sat next to Hunter Foster for three hours and managed not to jump him (regardless of your sex/orientation). I commend you for your self-control.

As for me . . . I live in NC and work in a restaurant. One of our customers was a dead-ringer for Idina Menzel . . . and she had a mulatto baby (is that a PC word? I dunno). It was a very strange experience. But, yeah, that's about as close as I've ever come to seeing anyone famous, unless you count seeing Norbert come in through the Wicked stage door (after he'd left the show) while waiting for JLT the night after I saw DRS.

Hmmm, my brain is dead. I'm excluding events were it was obvious I'd see a celebrity, to keep it random (ie. I met Carroll O'Connor at a booksigning for his book :))

*Mike Wallace eating a hotdog down the street from the "Spamalot" opener.
*Jon Bon Jovi crossing the street to go to the Rent10 event
*Redman (the rapper) buying a blunt at a bodega before my friends and I went to see "Sweet Charity." (Redman did not come along).
*Cynthia Nixon near Central Park

At shows
*Yoko Ono at "Lennon" (although she was there often)
*Rosie O'Donnell at "Goldas Balcony"
*Debbie Allen, Kim Fields, and Damon Wayans at "A Raisin in the Sun"

Jimmy Buffet at Kroger's in Franklin, TN (he has a house there), Dolly Parton in Nashville airport. Rode the elevator with Johnny Cash. Was in the Nashville Jr League with Amy Grant.
A few I've seen in the Detroit area: Eartha Kitt, Aretha Franklin and Celine Dion.
Sat by Phil Collins at Tarzan's 1st preview.

- Back when Sweet Charity was going, my brother and I were picking up his tkt for it, and Richard Kind walked right by us.

- We also, I'm convinced, had the Bob Saget Passed Us On His Cell on 8th Ave.

- I saw Louise Pitre (OBC Mamma Mia) in Starbucks.

- My brother went to Rent10, and stood right next to Frenchie Davis and Constantine Marlouis at the post-party.

Other than that, nothing completely random. =)

I stood 5 feet from Cedric the Entertainer at the Pittsburgh Airport last July we were both waiting for our baggage and were there for about 20 minutes. He had a bunch of people with hime (like 5) so I didn't want to intrude.

Bruce Springsteen and family were a few rows behind us at Hairspray a few weeks ago.

Anthony Rapp a row or two behind me at Altar Boyz. Tracy Thoms and Rosario Dawson were also at Altar Boyz the same night as me.

Adam Sandler at NBC studios in Rock Center a month or so ago..same with Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Kyan Douglas from Queer Eye walking next to my friend and I on 8th ave near 49th/50th.

Kathryn Erbe from Law n Order at Light in the Piazza a few weeks before the episode with Michael Beresse and Matty Fresh ran.

I had house seats to Les Miserables on tour and Colm Wilkinson (who was getting ready to go into the show in Toronto) sat right next to me.

I had house seats to Hairspray shortly after it opened, and sitting next to me were Trista and Ryan Sutter from "The Bachelorette" - that season had just ended so everyone was freaking out. (They were nice, she is REALLY pretty.)

Adam Pascal in my subway car.

Out and about... Kate Hudson, Susan Sarandon, Harrison Ford, Parker Posey, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks.

I literally ran into Harvey walking to Hairspray.

I saw Matthew Broderick on 42nd street across from the Internet Cafe talking to a friend. I interupted cause Im rude like that, lol, and patted him on the back and told him I enjoyed his work, lol. He was very nice. Didn't mind.

I saw David Hyde Pierce walking by the Forbidden Broadway Theatre.

I also saw Carson from Queer Eye walking down the street while I was looking for Chelsea studios.

I saw other Broadway people on the streets....John Hill I saw him all the time last summer.

Besides seeing them at stage doors, last week I saw Brad Garret walking down 5th ave and this guy who walked past him did a double take and then starting freaking out, very funny.

After doing the guiness book of world record coconut thing, i saw the entire cast of Spamalot walking down the street which was quite a sight.

Cheyenne Jackson was walking around Time Square back when All Shook Up was still playing.

I saw Gregory Jbara walking down the street after I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

I know they aren't on broadway but two years ago I was in a restaurant in Utah and I got up to go to the bathroom and walked by Kelly Osborne and Ozzy Osborne who were having lunch there too.

I met Joey McIntyre one day after "Wicked" at a Chinese restaurant. I was like "oh...my....god!!" My friend and I freaked out, we didn't scream, we were just starstruck. He signed our playbills and cds and all that and took a few pictures. He smelled really good! And on accident he touched my hinie! I was totally out of it by the end of the day!

I am a bagel on a plateful of onion rolls. If you know what I'm talking about, good. If you don't, you're on your own!

Before seeing Sweeney, my parents and I were eating dinner in Sardi's and my dad goes, "Hey, Kate, is that the French guy from DRS?" so i thought he was joking trying to get me to look.. so when i finally turned around so he would stop I see Greg Jbara sitting there with his family!

EDIT: I forgot, the same night after Sweeney, I saw James Earl Jones come out the stage door.
