Just trying to get an idea of how the lottery has been on the weekends (specifically Sunday matinee) as of late. My friend wants to go see it this Sunday and try the lottery so I was just trying to gauge the crowds..and get an idea of our chances...lol
Also, friends from out of town want to see the show the day after Christmas...what's attendance at shows like that day? I usually try to stay out of NYC Christmas week..lol
Thanks,
Cristin

Last weekend the lottery was INSANE. I imagine it's because there are a LOT of tourists around the holidays. It's really pretty unpredictable in how many will show up. For instance, October 30th, exactly 34 people showed up for the matinee, and there were about 150 at the evening show. It's just really hard to tell.
However, this past Saturday - I saw more people at the matinee than the evening lottery. Sundays aren't the most exciting day of the week, so you probably have a good chance for matinee - espeically the day after Christmas.
Hope this helps - and have a GREAT time! I just sat in the front row last weekend - it was great.

Thanks for the help...any other opinions??
I was wondering how the tourist crowds were....We figured sunday would definitely be better than a saturday as Sunday isnt so exciting...
Yeah, ive sat 2nd row once back in the fall when we won...and prolly will not do anything BUT lottery again to see the show. I kindof enjoyed my view...lol...but if i take a RENT virgin with me (like I did over the summer) I dont think those seats give you the whole show...you get so focused on one character n stuff...you miss out on seeing the whole set and background action...
Sundays are less crowded than Saturdays. That's kind of a given, since right now there are bus trips from EVERYWHERE on Saturdays. Oh, if only New York weren't a tourist attraction in the winter.
Lotto is definitely not for a RENT virgin. You'll spend the majority of Act I staring at the bulge in Jeremy's pants - I don't think it's healthy. *wink*
If you don't win lotto - especially if you're taking a virgin - go for mezz seats. You get a better view of everything on the stage, unlike most shows where you may miss some of the action from being elevated. At RENT, the elevation makes it better. I definitely prefer either lotto or mezz.
Good lord, this really makes me realize how many damn times I've seen the show.
I agree; if it's someone's first time, do mid-to-back orchestra or front mezz; it's the kind of show that you need to be able to see the 'full picture' for.

Oh.
Dear.
God.
I did lottery in mid-October. Sat front row, stage left. So true, even if you don't intend for it to be.

LOL not taking a virgin this time....Her first time was this summer and we sat midway back in the orchestra..and trust me neither of us would mind staring at Jeremy's crotch if we win this time. I think I did alot of that back in October...lmao. Im just glad Ive finally gotten a bunch of my friends into the show...I was the only RENThead for awhile.
My dad took me to my first RENT performance for my 21st bday...one of the first few weeks of the Angel tour...he's the only one I havent made a fan of the show...he was a bit uncomfortable but he suffered like a champ bc I wanted to see the show so bad. The Santa dress was one thing but I think Maureen mooning the audience put him over the edge..lol
If we end up not going this week..were definitely hitting a show on a Sunday before Jeremy leaves

apparently this has turned into the "lottery patrons love to stare at Jeremy Kushnier's crotch" thread...lol
Not that I mind....
"Sat front row, stage left. So true, even if you don't intend for it to be."
We were in the center section, left side, so yes - exactly.
I just really wish I had been in those exact seats when Adam played Roger. *collapses to the ground* I'm telling you, those pants make it IMPOSSIBLE not to stare. You're like "is that just the pattern on the pants... or... *stare*"
My favorite RENT virgin experience was this older couple who asked my friend and I if they were doing renovations at the theatre. I nearly died. Taking parents to the broadway show right now is a scary thought - I get embarrassed during La Vie Boheme, and I've seen the show WAYYY too many times for that.
And, um, Kelly shows a little TOO much while mooning the audience. *squeak*
I'm seeing Jeremy before he leaves. January 7th. Thank god.
Jeremy? Leaving that soon? Eeek! Thank god I'm seeing him in the next few weeks!
This is a good thread... I like this thread...
whose replacing him?
He's leaving either the 14th or 16th of January. Even HE doesn't know the real date. I'm seeing it on the 7th.

Wow, I feel stupid for liking Jeremy as much as I do and seeing Jeremy as often as I do and yet NOT noticing/caring about what everyone else seems to. Oy vey peoples.

My lottery seats were 2nd row center...on the aisle...we were 2 happy girls in October...
Yeah hes leaving *sniff* Gotta go back one more time before he's done his run. Never seen Cary as Roger....
and yes...Kelly showed us quite a bit when she did her moon...my friend sitting next to me (it was only her 2nd time seeing the show) was like "i dont remember seeing THAT much last time!"
I always debate mentioning the "more than moon" to Kelly. And then I figure, hey, I wouldn't want someone taking those pants away from Jeremy.

this thread just makes me jealous of everyone who has seen Rent millions of times, and I have not yet seen it...
*humph* I better start the begging and pleading to get my parents to let me and my sister see it this summer...

Those pants were GREAT....although I kept staring at his cute butt. :X lol. It's really bad when I'm watching the show and I'm like hmm Jeremys voice is so pretty...and his ass is too!
I tried the lottery back in October, for a saturday matinee. And it was not bad! I won, along with my friend! There were only like 75 people. And then my friends tried it last tuesday, and they all won, and there were 3 of them!

I totally missed this and it's no longer the topic... actually, it never was, but... well,
*is dead*
And it's the latter. It ain't just those pants.
Jeremy is leaving??? ::runs away crying::
I saw him in April and thought he was incredible, but I've always been a Jeremy fan(since Footloose atleast). He does have a nice ass...
*hums Light the Candle*
They say that he has the best ass on 41st street. Is it true?
yessssssssss.
You're staring again.
*stares with emcee. passes tissues to clean up drool*
PS, Emcee - I definitely had an AIDA dream last night that probably only you will appreciate. I was apparently seeing Aida again, and I went ouside during intermission, only to find Adam Pascal chainsmoking, while humming Willkommen. It was amusing, to say the very least.
Um, I think I developed a chronic staring problem. The more I was around him, the harder it was not to have my eyes almost fall out of my head.
Rotflmao. I appreciate that dream more than you know.
Gah. Adam. I miss him.
